Teddy for a girl?

We don’t know what we are having yet, but I love the name Teddy for a girl.

I would use Theodora on the birth certificate.. so she could use Teddy, Thea, Dora or make some other name up if she didn’t want to be Teddy.

I first saw it on a tv show (Good Luck Charlie?) I think it was called. It’s an American show..

But I just love the name! What do you think for a girl?

For a girl, no.

TashaRomanoff · 03/11/2017 20:48

Not for a girl. For a boy yes

HollowCity · 03/11/2017 20:50

No. Defo not for a girl and not keen on it for a boy tbh.

NannyR · 03/11/2017 20:50

Didn't Robbie Williams name his daughter Teddy?

DramaAlpaca · 03/11/2017 20:51

It's not one of my favourite names but I prefer it for a girl.

Skyatdawn998 · 03/11/2017 20:52

Maybe as a nick name in doors only but not were it's sticks and everyone is calling her teddy. Good God no.

Chaffinch4 · 03/11/2017 20:53

I quite like Theadora and Thea and Dora, but I'm not so sure about Teddy...

cakeymccakington · 03/11/2017 20:53

I don't particularly like it.
But it's not my child!
If you love it then go for it.
I do really like Theodora

Dsmummy · 03/11/2017 20:55

Love it. But all that matters is what you think. I had a name and attached nickname all picked and now she’s here, although we have given her the name we chose, we all call her a totally different one lol. If you love it then it’s great

Migraleve · 03/11/2017 20:59

Any name from an American tv show should remain on an American tv show. Teddy is AWFUL.

squoosh · 03/11/2017 21:19

Would be a bit of a pain for her now that Teddy is all of a sudden such a popular boys' name. Like a girl in the 1990s being called Jack.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 03/11/2017 21:26

I quite like it.

lovelyjubilly · 03/11/2017 21:27

I have a friend whose 1yo dd was originally called Thea (pronounced Tay-ah) but everyone now calls her Teddi (with an i)
I'm not sure about it tbh.

SurfaceThroughTheWaves · 03/11/2017 21:27

It isn’t a name I would choose for either sex tbh

LaBelleSausage · 03/11/2017 21:28

I know a lady called Teddy. It’s short for Edwina in her case.
Love it

autumnkate · 03/11/2017 21:32

My daughter is called Theodora and everyone calls her Teddy. We love it and it totally suits her. She is Theodora Kate.

I think it’s is far nicer for a girl.

AnyaMoondial · 03/11/2017 21:35

I think it works. Theodora is an awesome official name.

NameChangeFamousFolk · 03/11/2017 21:37

Theodora is a lovely name. Teddy as a nn sounds a bit forced, to be honest.

scrivette · 03/11/2017 21:42

Theodora is lovely and I prefer Teddie for a girl.

Grimmfebruary · 03/11/2017 21:45

Yes good luck Charlie! I love it for a girl.

HenryBiggleswade · 03/11/2017 21:47

I have a Theodora, she goes by Dora though not teddy.

I really dislike teddy for a girl, it seems a little try hard.

Baileystruffle · 03/11/2017 21:47

Maybe for a dog.

gonnabreakmyrustycage · 03/11/2017 21:52

I think it's absolutely lovely!

EKLInTraining · 03/11/2017 21:52

I think it's cute!

HaHaHmm · 03/11/2017 21:57

I love Theodora. I know an (adult) female Theo, which I have always thought was very cool.
