I'm just curious and thought it would be an interesting topic as I know parents don't agree on everything. What would you have named you child/children if your DP didn't have a say in it? Smile

I got my way for two out of five of them; one of those two would have had a slightly different spelling though, and the other three, whose names were compromises, would have been Niamh or Angharad, Alice, and Colm.

fairyofallthings · 15/10/2017 06:15

They same they they have now, I chose the names. Dh knew better than to argue wasn't bothered.

iamdivergent · 15/10/2017 06:55

DD1 - Amelie (Friend had an Amelia the month before so that was out)
DD2 - Eilidh (DH said too difficult to spell)
DS1 - Rhys (DH bullied by a Rhys)

I have two boys. Their names were a bit of a compromise, and I don't dislike them at all (one of their middle names would have been on my very short shortlist if I'd been on my own), but some of the names I liked that were vetoed include Matthew, Adam, Benjamin, and Daniel, so those might have been in the mix too.

OSETmum · 17/10/2017 18:39

Ds would have been Kirby James. If she had had his choice he would have been Mitchell which is hideous and so wouldn’t suit ds!

NotAgainYoda · 17/10/2017 18:44

Asa and Gabriel

Ducknose · 17/10/2017 19:04

Leander or Lysander, Vesper and Saxon

autumnkate · 18/10/2017 12:38

DS1- the same
DD- Sunday
DS2- Tadhg

whattheactualflump · 18/10/2017 12:44

Jude and Alexa/Lex (Alexa was the girls name I wanted 15 years ago - quite glad I didn't now as the one teenage Alexa we know is getting quite a lot of grief/random questions directed at her now because of the Amazon thing, poor girl! Mind you pre-Amazon in the 90's I always wanted to open a tall clothing store called Amazon, clearly have something in common with whomever thinks up names there..).

Coconutspongexo · 18/10/2017 12:49

My son would have the name he has now.

I would have been called Magdalena if my mother had her own way, so happy my dad talked her out of it.

Crunchymum · 18/10/2017 13:53

Indiana for DD

jennawade · 18/10/2017 14:04

Charlie and Sophie.

I'm glad we both compromised and took time to agree on names though - I prefer the ones we came up with

littlechou · 18/10/2017 15:05

Omg if my son had been a girl (14 years ago) she would have been named Isis.

Thank the heavens!!!

MsGameandWatching · 18/10/2017 16:58

I have a ds and dd. They'd have been Edward and Esme or Estelle if left to me.

MsGameandWatching · 18/10/2017 17:03

That said, after exH vetoed Edward I came up with my other name that I had loved since I was 16. I kept it quiet right up till eight months when we were despairing of ever finding one we both liked, then casually dropped it in passing during a phone conversation. He really liked it so I did get the name I wanted in the end. I think though if I had said it early on it would have been an automatic veto.

Hushabyelullaby · 18/10/2017 17:13

DD would have been Caoimhe if it was solely my choice. As it happens we found a name I liked just as much, and that DH liked too.

A boy would have been Kane which was a favourite of mine, DH liked it too luckily (well, I say luckily, but really it didn't matter as we had a girl).

EsmeeMerlin · 18/10/2017 17:15

Well we agreed and both loved ds1 name straight away but with our ds2 who is due in March, I would have loved the name Nicholas. It's a name I have always loved but dh hates it so we have picked something else I like but not love.

QuestionOnInjections · 23/10/2017 16:26

Joe, I still like it.

undertheradarplease · 27/10/2017 19:57

I love this - so interesting!

My oldest daughter would have been Scout. Deeply regret not naming her that though I do love her current name.

Tour · 27/10/2017 20:02

Seth.

He ended up being a Joe. Suits it but I sometimes call him Seph Grin

bruffin · 27/10/2017 20:03

Probably Sebastian and Charlotte

Morello444 · 27/10/2017 20:05

Same as they are now. Single mum Grin

Theyhaveallbeenused2 · 27/10/2017 20:08

Parker or jaxon

christmasunicorn · 27/10/2017 20:10

DD would’ve been Chelsea

Dh wanted ds2 to be called Danny-Boy Hmm I wanted Edward. He’s neither of those.

secretgirl · 27/10/2017 21:28

Annabelle or Lydia
