Isadora, Vivienne and...

DD1 is Isadora. We are expecting twins end of this year and we are 100% on girls names. If they are twin girls they will be called Vivienne and Josephine.

Isadora is Dora and we like Vivi and Posy as shortenings for our twin girl names.

We like having a "Sunday best" name as it were, I prefer shorter more cutesy nicknames as children but would like them to have a "proper" name as they get older so would like that same theme to continue in our boys names.

Problem is I don't like ANY boys names but have convinced myself it is a boy and a girl from the 12 week scan - we won't find out at the 20 week scan. Struggling because we want a solid, traditional name that isn't too "out there" but not one that's extremely popular.

Any suggestions??

Our rather mixed bag of "like but not love"

Albert - Bertie
Douglas - Dougie
George - Georgie
Ambrose - Bram

Thank you :)

Wishful love Douglas/Dougie - top of my list atm. Vincent/Vinnie also up there but DH isn't keen!

Is there a reason you're discounting Abraham for the nickname Bram?

Composteleana · 15/07/2017 19:50

Ronald - Ronnie
Ernest - Ernie
Hugh - Huey
Alexander - Ali /xander
Wilfred - Freddie/ Wilf
Jonathan - Jonty
Charles - Charlie
Elijah - Eli

I really love the 'Enzo' shortening of Vincenzo but don't really have the Italian background to justify it, I sometimes wonder if you could just use it for Vincent, but it may be a stretch.

Similarly, on the Spanish side (I do at least speak Spanish) I love Santiago nn Santi

mammabear4 · 15/07/2017 19:55

Borttagen not discounting it - I've not really thought about the name Abraham! Not keen I'm afraid.

Composteleana I like Elijah and Hugh from your list. Agreed - Vincenzo and Santiago don't quite fit with my very un-exotic background ha. Lovely names though!

Some lovely names being suggested on here.

OP did I miss something but could the boy not be Joseph rather than Josephine?

I think Laurence is so lovely and I suspect no one would give a monkeys it's your sisters last name after the first minute. It's my fave from your list and goes well with your other names.

MoreProseccoNow · 16/07/2017 10:18

Zachary/Zack

Or Isaac, Oscar, Caspar, which don't need shortened but stand well on their own.

eiche · 08/02/2019 15:51

Vivienne or Alexandra ?

Hey guys just checking in with an update... over 3 years on!

Our twin BOYS have just turned 3 - Hugo and George.

We ended up going strong, short and classic though rereading this thread I am pining for some of these beautiful boys names!

Devastated I never got to use Vivienne or Douglas - Hugo was so nearly Douglas. Maybe for a 4th hey...? ;)

YoniAndGuy · 19/12/2020 12:59

I don't think Douglas goes at all with your other names, but how about Roderick / Roddy? Just has a bit less 'wide boy' about it.

Malachi/Mal

Ferdinand / Ferdy (or even Freddie)

YoniAndGuy · 19/12/2020 12:59

Oh and Barnaby or Barnabas (Barney)

YoniAndGuy · 19/12/2020 13:00

Last one - Abraham for Bram, instead of Ambrose?

ForestNymph · 19/12/2020 19:56

You have a similar taste in names to me, and I also have twins. Wink

Jonathan
Gabriel
Alexander nn Xander. We nearly went with this but didn't want everyone to call him Alex.
Sebastian
Matthew
Casper
Dorian, maybe too similar to Isadora though
Julian
