Thanks for clicking!
So first baby is due in just over 11 weeks, and we have kept the sex a surprise.
We have a boys name set but still thinking about a girls name.
We both love Macy but my DP would love his late grandmothers name as the middle name.
The name is May.

Can we really have a Macy May?

Thanks for any input.

Fuck, no.

Rioja123 · 14/05/2017 19:55

It sounds a little ridiculous

kizzle · 14/05/2017 19:56

I normally can't stand any alliteration. I can't even look at names that begin with the same letter as my DP's surname.

Just checking pregnancy brain hasn't clouded my judgement!
Thanks!

kizzle what is alliteration?

MiniMaxi · 14/05/2017 19:57

Isn't there a movie called Martha Macy May Marlene?!

Anyway, I actually like Macy May!

Chocolatecake12 · 14/05/2017 19:57

Could you add another name in between?
Macy Katherine May for example?
It breaks it up a bit.

MiniMaxi · 14/05/2017 19:58

PS or you could have Macy Esme or something? I know it's a totally diff name but still has the "may" sound in there

kizzle · 14/05/2017 19:59

wizzywig
It's where 2 names or words beginning with the same letter follow each other

Which is a shame as my DP's name is a very popular surname beginning with the letter 'J' so any names I like beginning with that letter are a no go!

Never thought of adding a second middle name, that could possibly work.
Thanks for the heads up!

Babybrain had no part to play here! It's not great!

Thatextrainch · 14/05/2017 20:01

It's a bit southern Belle but day to day she'll be Macy right?

ChippyMinton · 14/05/2017 20:01

It's cute.

kizzle · 14/05/2017 20:01

Minimaxi
I like that, Esmae/Esme was on the shortlist - then we got confused with the whole Es-may/Es-mee pronunciation so we scrapped it!

Hotpinkangel19 · 14/05/2017 20:02

I like it!

kizzle · 14/05/2017 20:02

Yes she will be known as Macy.
May will just be the middle name.

harderandharder2breathe · 14/05/2017 20:03

I don't like it

I agree with PP who suggested Macy something May

CocktailsInTheSunshine · 14/05/2017 20:04

I agree about another middle name breaking it up. Otherwise I don't personally like the name.

kizzle · 14/05/2017 20:05

My DP has 3 middle names (he has his 2 grandfathers & great grandfathers names bless him)
Whereas I only have 1 middle name.
I guess giving a baby 2 middle names isn't that bad?
I could have my grandmothers name too then.

Thanks again.

It's cute, why on earth not?!

TittyGolightly · 14/05/2017 20:08

I have 2 middle names, my sister has 3. It's fine.

Honeyandfizz · 14/05/2017 20:09

If you like it then why the hell not? You'll never get a positive response on MN to the middle name May. Just go for it op you can have whatever name you like.

AntigoneJones · 14/05/2017 20:10

Why not, it sounds cute. Besides middle names are hardly used, really, are they?

kizzle · 14/05/2017 20:11

I didn't realise May was hated on MN🙈
I wouldn't have asked otherwise... silly me.
I do personally like the name, and my DP does too, just wanted others opinions.
We haven't told any family or friends about any name ideas as I know it can all change!

Macy Alice May?

Add another name and its OK.

AuntieStella · 14/05/2017 20:14

I think this is a case where you need another name between Macy and May. Anything you like from your side of the family?
