Honest opinions on this girls name?

Thanks for clicking!
So first baby is due in just over 11 weeks, and we have kept the sex a surprise.
We have a boys name set but still thinking about a girls name.
We both love Macy but my DP would love his late grandmothers name as the middle name.
The name is May.

Can we really have a Macy May?

Thanks for any input.

My grandmothers name is Rose Audrey.

Macy Rose May, it sounds like a full name now 😂

I hope it's a boy now as choosing a girls name is far too hard 🙈

Came on to say stick something in between, but see it's been suggested.

MuddyB · 14/05/2017 20:28

What about putting in between Macy and May the name Pi (for the Kill Bill fans on here)

PanannyPanoo · 14/05/2017 20:30

I think Macy May is lovely. She would be known as Macy day to day. So don't see the problem. within a few months only close family would remember her second name anyway. Macy may would probably become a term of endearment. My friend Lucy is known as loopy Lou by her parents. I know an Isabella who is called Bella boo. Macy May sounds a perfect name for a cuddle! as long as your surname isn't an adjective. Macy May Dance or something is asking for trouble!

flisspot · 14/05/2017 20:39

I think it sounds really nice! Super cute 😃

Rockaby · 14/05/2017 20:47

I don't hate it. If your DH was close to his grandmother and wants to honour her then, why not? My DD's middle name sounds dreadful with her first name, but it was my late mum's name, so we used it anyway.

29Palms · 14/05/2017 20:54

May isn't "hated", it's just that currently it's the most common 'filler' name, along with Rose and Grace. It seems that almost every little girl is getting one of these three as a middle name.

You could always be different and give her May as her first name. Daring, I know ...... Grin

kizzle · 14/05/2017 20:56

Hahaha her name definitely won't be Macy May Dance! 🙈 I would change the surname before anything 😂.

Yes my DP was very close to his grandmother and May was an option for the first name, but I didn't want to upset anyone on my side of the family.
So we decided on Macy which has no connection to anyone or anything, but plenty of names get passed on in the middle name don't they?

29Palms
Thanks for that, I understand now.
Rose is my grandmothers name and Grace is my DP's sisters middle name so I understand they are common.

I think every baby should come with its own name, and then no one else can use it. Would make life a lot easier 😂

Oh I love it! I think it sounds really pretty. I love alliteration.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 14/05/2017 21:01

I like Macy May.😄

Bluebiscuits · 14/05/2017 21:02

I like it. Sounds very sweet, and as your surname doesn't begin with M I don't see a problem.

AtlantaGinandTonic · 14/05/2017 21:06

My truly honest opinion is that it would be cute for a child, but imagine being an adult with the name. It doesn't sound as good when you imagine an adult using it to apply for jobs, etc. Sorry, OP, but nope.

AtlantaGinandTonic · 14/05/2017 21:07

On the other hand, I do love the name Macy. :) I just don't know what I'd use for a middle name!

Supersoaryflappypigeon · 14/05/2017 21:11

Just call her what you want. Why do you card what what we think? Macy May is cute.

pepperpot99 · 14/05/2017 21:23

Sorry but Macy May sounds really naff and "essex".

kizzle · 14/05/2017 21:24

I don't care what anyone thinks, was just looking for opinions on if it was cute, or too matchy matchy.

Macy has been a firm favourite since day 1 - I might just scrap the middle name altogether! 😂

29Palms · 14/05/2017 21:26

Macy sounds like an natural extension of May. I can imagine using it as a pet name for May.

kizzle · 14/05/2017 21:29

That was my original thought when he mentioned May.
I said well Macy has got May in it, just a different variation.
We love Macy because this pregnancy is due to a successful first IVF treatment, I spent my 2 week wait in New York (pre booked family holiday). And I got my BFP the day I landed home, so it's only natural to have a New York twist in there somewhere! ☺️

I'm a fan of an alliteration but not in this case I'm afraid.

Lemondrop09 · 14/05/2017 22:23

I think Macy May is fine. Yes it's a little cutesy but in a world of Ruby Maes and Lacey Mays etc, it's not so far from the norm. I actually think it has a nice flow. I'd say no to a hyphened name, but as May is a middle name and won't be used regularly, it's just fine. May can be seen as a filler middle name but it has meaning to youso that's different

bridgetreilly · 14/05/2017 22:45

Macy May is fine. Macy Rose May is lovely, and I like it when both sides of the family are honoured, so I would probably pick that.

WanderingTrolley1 · 14/05/2017 22:46

No. It's like a skack-jawed hillbilly name.
