Middle names...
I vetoed Flurina and showed DH the toothpaste comments on the previous thread... Thanks :) He (enthusiastically...) suggested new names.

Louisa Mia Marigold (I really like the simplicity of this one, tbh. But is it "too boring"?)
Louisa Philippa Fleur
Louisa Mia Phlox (this one is extremely adorable imo. I honestly love it. But is it too cutesy?)

Viola Mia Louise (I also like this one. Is it boring?)
Viola Louisa Phlox

I like Louisa Mia Marigold (although I'd prefer just Louisa Marigold) and Louisa Philippa Fleur. Not keen on Phlox.

WheresTheEvidence · 09/05/2017 13:57

Why Mia it's so meh next to the others.

CricketRuntAndRashers · 09/05/2017 14:03

Wheres

I really like Mia :) It's also the middle name of my sister, she'll be the godmother. And it's short for Mary/Maria, a family name.

The only one I don't like is Marigold because it makes me think of washing up.

Love Fleur, and Phlox is interesting/completely new to me

Phlox is cool.

29Palms · 09/05/2017 14:13

Phlox sounds like a disease.

"He caught the phlox."

CricketRuntAndRashers · 09/05/2017 14:13

Well, I don't think Phlox is an "real name", tbh.

Really? I think it sounds like Flocks, doesn't it?

Would Phlox work as a 3rd name?

The only one I don't like is Marigold because it makes me think of washing up.

May I ask why? Confused

I didn't know there was a Marigold in Downtown. Is she nice/a good character?

DH actually had a great-aunt (...?) named Marigold...

Choccyhobnob · 09/05/2017 14:57

Marigold is the no.1 brand of yellow washing up gloves which is why people tend to say, "I need marigolds",/"Pass the marigolds" rather than actually say "washing up gloves" so synonymous is the name with the item.

However, that doesn't prevent it being a nice name! It's perfectly useable as a middle name. Marigold in Downton is just a toddler so nothing bad associated with her!

I'm afraid Phlox does sound a bit medical to me too!

TheWildRumpyPumpus · 09/05/2017 15:06

Phlox is an awful flower name - there are many prettier ones out there.

AdaColeman · 09/05/2017 15:09

Phlox sounds like a nasty disease in cattle to me.
Not keen on Marigold, will forever be rubber gloves.

I'm glad you've dropped Flurina, surely the name of a flu vaccine.

Louisa Philippa Fleur too many AAAs and FFFFFs

I think the one that flows best is Viola Mia Louise.

CricketRuntAndRashers · 09/05/2017 15:09

Oh no, I really liked Phlox. And the nickname Phloxie or Phlo... :(

Hm...

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 09/05/2017 15:09

Fleur should be pretty but sounds a but like throat clearing to me. Phlox is ugly.

The other names are really pretty.

CricketRuntAndRashers · 09/05/2017 15:11

I'm glad you've dropped Flurina, surely the name of a flu vaccine.

It's actually a traditional name of my home country Grin

Phlox is a plant name inasmuch as it makes me think of phylloxera.

AdaColeman · 09/05/2017 15:15

Oh so sorry Cricket, no offence meant, I hope you will forgive me. Smile Cake Cake

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 09/05/2017 15:16

You did well to bin flurina.

Marigold Phlox
Not much better mind.

IHeartKingThistle · 09/05/2017 15:16

Louisa Mia Marigold is cute as a button. I'd love to be called that. I would insist on everyone using all 3 names at all times!

CricketRuntAndRashers · 09/05/2017 15:19

Great. I now have a faint taste of sick in my mouth...

Urgh. Envy (that's meant to symbolise nausea, not envy, btw...)

AdaC

It's perfectly fine. :)! opinions are good when naming babies (in my experience most people are incredibly nasty IRL and will only accept a name they deem 100% perfect or are afraid of upsetting a pregnant woman => like everything. DH is a bit like that)

OP posts:
CricketRuntAndRashers · 09/05/2017 15:20

The faint taste of sick is because of the phyllorexa, btw. That's a cruel way to put somebody off a name Grin Envy

Louisa Philippa Fleur is the nicest by far imo. Lovely, lovely choice!

I don't like Phlox, (sounds a bit like flux, as in ye olde word for period, to me - sorry). I also don't like Mia or Marigold as much as Philippa and Fleur which are lovely, strong names to me. Mia and Marigold sound a bit cutesier maybe?
