Middle names...
I vetoed Flurina and showed DH the toothpaste comments on the previous thread... Thanks :) He (enthusiastically...) suggested new names.

Louisa Mia Marigold (I really like the simplicity of this one, tbh. But is it "too boring"?)
Louisa Philippa Fleur
Louisa Mia Phlox (this one is extremely adorable imo. I honestly love it. But is it too cutesy?)

Viola Mia Louise (I also like this one. Is it boring?)
Viola Louisa Phlox

Housework
Thanks :)!

Flower names are a bit of a tradition in our families (DH's and mine) and as I mentioned, Mia is my sister's middle name and it's short for Mary/Maria/Marielle/etc (which was a rather popular name in both our families as well...)

Plus, DD1 has 3 names as well.

And I know some people that are actually primarily known by one of their middle names (or a nickname). So, to me personally the middle names are really really important.

I think I may even slightly prefer Viola (but I still love Louisa!), but we just seem to struggle with the middle names!

Girl
I do like those, but Idk. Sorry.

Louisa Mia Violetta?

Can't say Phlox rings my bell, sorry.

Flowerwords · 11/05/2017 22:18

Ok you want a flower?
Are you aware Marigold means grief in the traditional language of flowers???
Also it's yellow rubber gloves!

CricketRuntAndRashers · 11/05/2017 22:52

Donkey
It is nice... But aren't there too many "A"s? Idk.

flower
Yes, but I don't think too many peopl know that nowadays. Or do they?
And it's not a "new name"... I thought it would be ok.

OP posts:
CricketRuntAndRashers · 11/05/2017 22:54

And yes, I want a flower. Unless the first name is Viola or we use Fleur as a middle name, of course :=) What would you suggest? :)

OP posts:
FreeNiki · 12/05/2017 03:42

Zinnia
Azaelea
Petunia
Iris
Jonquil
Fuchsia

Plenty of flowers. Get thee a horticulture book

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 12/05/2017 12:52

Are you aware Marigold means grief in the traditional language of flowers? No! How interesting!

CricketRuntAndRashers · 12/05/2017 12:53

Thank you for the suggestions. But I think we're going to go with Viola or Fleur to cover the fower "requirement". But thank you for your suggestions. I wish we could use Iris, it's really pretty :)

OP posts:
FreeNiki · 12/05/2017 15:33

I think Viola is beautiful.

CricketRuntAndRashers · 12/05/2017 15:54

Free

Thanks. :)

Aster? Dahlia? Tansy?

I quite like Louisa Rose or Louisa Aster May.

indigo13 · 12/05/2017 16:09

Please use marigold, its very cool. How about Louisa Marigold Mia or Viola Marigold Mia?

CricketRuntAndRashers · 12/05/2017 17:16

InDubious

I don't like Roses and whilst I do like Asters I dislike the sound. Sorry. But thank you for suggesting these :)

indigo

I also really like Marigold. But I think I prefer Viola as a first name... And Viola Marigold ....(?) Louise is just so flowery. Although... You are right. It does sound pretty. Confusing stuff, naming babies ;)

I think that although the middle names are important to you - focus on the first name first because the chances are that she WILL just use that name in everyday life. That has to be right in itself, not just right because it's the best combo flowing with the middle names.

Personally I think Louisa is a bit boring on its own. Lou?

Viola is more interesting, but Vi not so great. Also, pronunciation issue.

I would be thinking - if you love the flower theme and the idea of having a beautiful, trad, flowery three-name combo, how are you going to feel if eight years down the line she is known as 'Vi' or 'Lou' -?!

Fleur is actually a good first name I think and hard to shorten.

Fleur Viola May
Fleur Louisa Marigold - etc.

Most of the combo options work well with Fleur at the start and it is the name which most 'reflects' the whole feel of the thread when used alone.

CricketRuntAndRashers · 13/05/2017 11:41

not just right because it's the best combo flowing with the middle name

That's true... Thank you for reminding me! :)

Tbh, I understand what you're saying, but I really like the options of nicknames. Viola might not suit her. But Lola, Vi, Veevee or something entirely different might...

I LOVE Fleur, and I guess you're right, it does reflect the thread the most. But Fleur does have a certain amount of pronunciation issues, doesn't it? :)

*Beautiufl, trad, flowery three-name combo". Excatly :=) Thanks :)

FizzyGreenWater · 13/05/2017 11:55

Oh Lola is nice, you're right, and also Vivi.

(Hmm, Vivienne??)

Vivienne Fleur Louisa...

FizzyGreenWater · 13/05/2017 11:56

And yes to Fleur prn issues - a little bit - more that people will pronounce it differnetly depending on accent, and that can be irritating!

Fleeeeeurgh etc.

daisypond · 13/05/2017 12:13

You could get pronuncation issues with Viola.
V-eye-O-la.
V-ee-O-la.
V-EYE-o-la, etc. (stress on first syllable)
And you might get people saying "viler" as well...

CricketRuntAndRashers · 13/05/2017 13:18

Vivienne is a brilliant middle name, thanks :)

daisy

all these pronouncuations are ok. But "viler"? Oh no :(

Do you have any other suggestions?

I also liked Francesca and Vittoria...(but I decided that the association to my late granduncle would be too much and that Vittoria would lead to confusion...)

I know that Louisa os objectively perfect, but it just doesn't feel right.

OP posts:
FizzyGreenWater · 13/05/2017 13:35

Italian names definitely have the feel you are looking for, are beautiful and very classy! Vittoria lovely, but will possibly end up as Vicky. Francesca also lovely.

Agree of all the pronunciation issues, Viola has the most!

Camellia?

CricketRuntAndRashers · 13/05/2017 13:47

Fizzy

I grew up speaking Italian (mostly Italian, at least) with my grandmother (and occasionally other family members). So the Italian theme isn't entirely surprising, I suppose ;)

Nothing wrong with Vicky :)

I don't know.... Marise, Margaret, Gloria, Letitia and Susan/nah were also on our list (but didn't make it to the top 5)....

OP posts:
CricketRuntAndRashers · 13/05/2017 16:40

Do you like Gloria?

OP posts:
FizzyGreenWater · 13/05/2017 18:49

Yes, I like Gloria - I think that one is due a revival!

Marguerite? Marisa?

Yes, nothing wrong with Vicky at all - just that it would almost certainly be the go-to nickname for Vittoria, so you'd need to like it.

CricketRuntAndRashers · 13/05/2017 19:50

Fizzy

Thanks :) I really like it as well. It's the perfect first name imo :)! I think we need to let it rest... Or else I'll go mad.

Maybe we'll think of middle names when we can actually see/hold her. If not I suspect I'll be back ;)

OP posts:
FizzyGreenWater · 13/05/2017 20:13

Gloria Vivienne Fleur :)

If she grows up to not love Gloria, then she could be Vivi.

Good luck OP!
