Middle names...
I vetoed Flurina and showed DH the toothpaste comments on the previous thread... Thanks :) He (enthusiastically...) suggested new names.

Louisa Mia Marigold (I really like the simplicity of this one, tbh. But is it "too boring"?)
Louisa Philippa Fleur
Louisa Mia Phlox (this one is extremely adorable imo. I honestly love it. But is it too cutesy?)

Viola Mia Louise (I also like this one. Is it boring?)
Viola Louisa Phlox

Sorry, Cricket. Blush

StiffyByng · 09/05/2017 15:38

Flux was used for diarrhoea.

I like Marigold and Viola but not together Grin not so keen on Louisa as its my name and a bit bland to my ears (have always thought that but not enough to change it) -

I would much rather have been Marigold/Viola or Phillipa - I would have loved to have been Pip/Pippa rather than Lou (although that nn not used often once I'd learnt a death stare )

I wish I liked Fleur but maybe its an accent thing but like Phlox sounds like a disease.....

Louise Mia Marigold

Philippa Marigold probably my fave as Pip Marigold sounds great
or Mia Marigold I think also sounds good can you use Mia ?does there have to be 3

CrazedZombie · 09/05/2017 15:57

Flux makes me think of the wire used when soldering.

averythinline · 09/05/2017 15:57

Louisa Mia Marigold- better than Louise!

CricketRuntAndRashers · 09/05/2017 15:58

Stiffy

It's ok. :) But yes, Phlox is off the list :(

New list:
Louisa Mia Marigold
(btw, yes, I agree, Mia Marigold is a bit daintier than Philippa Fleur. But Louisa is such a strong name... I don't mind the Downton or Gloves association, btw)

Louisa Philippa Fleur

Viola Mia Louise

Viola Louisa Fleur

Louisa Philippa Fleur is fine.

harderandharder2breathe · 09/05/2017 18:35

Louisa Mia Marigold from both your lists

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 09/05/2017 18:38

Viola Louisa Fleur is too flowery, you have too flower themed names there.

CricketRuntAndRashers · 09/05/2017 20:03

Chardonnay

True...

Viola Louisa Gladys? Viola Ismene Louise?

I really like Viola. But Louisa does work better with our middle name options...

This is complicated. Poor child...

I love Viola Louisa Gladys!

Marlboroandmalbec34 · 09/05/2017 20:23

Louisa Mia Marigold is beautiful xx

LumelaMme · 09/05/2017 20:32

I think there is a good reason why Phlox hasn't become a popular name:
phlox of sheep?
phlox/pox?

Viola Mia Marigold?

The most important thing is that you really like the name that you will use all the time. The middle names are much less of a deal, except that it would be nice to acknowledge your sister and the Mary/Maria tradition in your family.

PlaiceMarking · 09/05/2017 20:35

How about Marisol? Similar sound but without the gloves association, also a version of Maria.

bridgetreilly · 09/05/2017 20:59

Viola Gladys Louisa would be lovely.

CricketRuntAndRashers · 09/05/2017 21:29

Sorry, I somehow missed your comments. No, I don't want to name her Mia Marigold. Mia is really pretty but I don't really see it as a first name (which is probably silly, I know!!)

The most important thing is that you really like the name that you will use all the time

I honestly like both names. Blush

Marisol is pretty. But it just doesn't feel right.

Viola Gladys Louisa would be lovely.

True. I didn't even consider using Gladys as a 2nd name. Thanks :)

Louisa Mia Marigold is my favourite.

Phlox is truly awful. Sounds like a disease.

CricketRuntAndRashers · 09/05/2017 22:18

Super

I think it's my favourite combination as well.

But as "standalone" names I admittedly like both names (Louisa and Viola) very much.

I just want to find a nice combination for both names. That way we can genuinely decide which name we prefer and won't just go for Louisa because it work better with our middle names....

Choccyhobnob · 10/05/2017 15:58

Louisa Mia Marigold gets my vote, I'm sorry but Gladys is awful to my ears, very granny-not-yet-chic.

villainousbroodmare · 10/05/2017 23:13

Louisa, much nicer than Viola imo and without any pronunciation dilemma.
Fleur is a nice middle name.
Maria is far far nicer than Mia which clashes dreadfully with your style.
Philippa also nice.
Marigold is an ugly flower and a rubber glove.
Phlox is just awful and will subconsciously remind people of diarrhoea.

But all in all it seems to be a choice between Louisa and Viola. Middle names are generally irrelevant, so choose the first name you prefer. Virtually nobody will ever say them aloud; friends and acquaintances won't even know them.

CricketRuntAndRashers · 10/05/2017 23:28

What about Rosemary?

Choccy
Hm, true. It is rather... dusty, isn't it? villainous Yes, we won't name her Phlox.... Does Mia really clash dreadfully with our style?

I just don't know!

If we go with Louisa I want to either use Mia and or Fleur/an other flower name...

GirlcalledJames · 11/05/2017 11:06

If not Flurina maybe Flavia, Flora, Floriana, Fiorina?
Phlox has got a certain something, and as a third name, I don't see it being a big problem.

FreeNiki · 11/05/2017 11:34

There was a Dr Phlox in Star Trek. Ugly git he was too!

HouseworkIsASin10 · 11/05/2017 11:45

Any are fine. Nobody uses middle names anyway unless they are hyphenated.

I only see the point of a middle name if you want to honour somebody.
