Emmanuelle first impressions?

First impressions on Emmanuelle? It's the only girl's name so far that DH & I both like, but the few Emmanuelle's we've known have been French and I'm not confident it works outside French culture? We don't have French heritage btw. Nickname probably Emmy.

V religious and reminds me of a very serious Christmas carol.

Reminds me of the Emmanuel Petit Arsenal chant:

TBH OP, I think you should type the name into Google and see what you get. The porn films absolutely dominate what you get back.

Since you aren't french, what about the Italian Emanuela?

Thanks all. A definite no, then The name doesn't seem to work well in English culture. Didn't know the porn films! I do like Emmeline, thanks for the suggestion. Can't use Gabrielle as some have suggested as my son's name is Gabriel! x

I love it, I went to school with one (her mum was French) and I considered it myself for DD. I think the soft porn reference will die out soon enough. Emmy is a great nn.

I believe so but it pronounced pretty much the same which I find off putting. But I also don't like gender neutral names so that is most probably clouding my judgement.
