Help me on my treacherous journey to naming DD?

We're having a baby girl!

I have always wanted Lydia but all this ''Lydia Chlamydia" has put me right off.

Love Diana but have been put off recently but the nn Di.

I love Otillie... Dislike Lottie and Tilly so won't be using it.

Like Helen, it's my mum's name, but have been put off by countless novels representing every Helen as a push over/the naive one. Dislike Helena.

Like Athena... Only name DP really agrees on that I'll have.

Like Odette, DH says no way.

Love Posey but understand it is very flowery and unsuitable for a woman.

DH adores Alice but it reminds me of "a lice"

Any suggestions? I like unusual names but nothing tacky/cheap!

Thank you, you lovely lot Grin

Eliza would be my current number one choice.

Alicia is pretty.

Beatrice
Thea
Annabel are all pretty.

Really not a fan of Eliza but love Theodora (Dora as nn). DH won't have it Sad

Also like Frances but dislike Fanny and DH isn't keen anyway

Also like Alicia but it sounds like someone with a lisp is saying it

All this what?? I think Lydia is an awesome name.

Blueisthecolour9 · 16/02/2017 23:50

Red I know, such a pain. Love Lydia but so so many people keep saying Lydia chlamydia to me and its becoming more of a connection... Never use to be

I've never heard anyone rhyme Lydia with chlamydia. It's a great name, timeless and suits all ages.

Athena is a lovely name. We also liked Valentina, Perdita and Alexandra. We eventually compromised on a name that we both liked but neither of us loved completely...

SuperBeagle · 17/02/2017 01:25

I knew a Lydia who got Lydia Chlamydia... so it's been a thing for while!

I agree with Dorothea, but if you like Dora, why not just go with that?

Jeanne51 · 17/02/2017 01:33

Carlotta.

Oooo i'm following for ideas, my baby girl is due on 24th Feb and she is nowhere closer to a name than the day we found out. If it wasn't for the DP she would have been named already. Such inconvenient men!
To be fair to him I did go through a phase
Of wanting to call her "Suki Rose". Pronounced sooki, not sucky (which he turned it into).

Bit carried away I guess. But he wont let me have Lily!!!

I think your reasoning for not using Helen is a bit silly!

happystory · 17/02/2017 08:17

I think it's highly unlikely a Diana would get called Di these days. Athena stands out as the obvious choice. It's lovely.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 17/02/2017 08:22

Look no further than Athena if you both like it.

Blueisthecolour9 · 17/02/2017 08:57

Hmm, Iooks like Athena it is then!

We both also like Frances now but DH is adamant all the Frances ladies he's ever known have all had big/pointy noses Hmm
