I've never posted on mn before but am due with baby number three next month and my husband and I are still undecided on names. With dd1 and dd2 we had them chosen almost from the beginning but this time we keep changing our minds! So I'm interested to hear what everyone thinks. In no particular order here is our shortlist for both boy and girl...

Boy:
Raphael
Harrison
Ioan
Wilf
Rusty

Girl:
Callista
Vivia
Eden
Mirabel
Pearl
Ophelia

Gosh, no ive never heard of Wigbert before. It sounds very posh!

MitzyLeFrouf · 04/01/2017 21:52

Wigbert

😂😂😂

Makes Rusty suddenly seem appealing!

RenovatingHouseWithKids · 04/01/2017 22:04

Raphael is my favourite of your boy's list.
And I really like Callista for a girl. (Or Viviana)

Raines100 · 05/01/2017 06:23

I'm telling you, Wigbert is going to be the new black! Grin

renovatin

That is a great suggestion, thanks. Octavia is a really pretty name.

I actually kind of like Wigbert. Wigbert nn Bertie? It's surprisingly charming imo. I think it comes from Wybert (according to behindthename... but they spell it Wigberht...?)

Btw, Rusty could be a nickname for Raphael, right?

1horatio · 05/01/2017 06:56

No idea who came up with the brilliant idea to reuse Wigbert.. but according to DH the name isn't just 'surprisingly charming' but 'brilliant'... so, we'll see.;)
Il have to check out this link, raines.

Eden and Raphael

Hellofromtheotherside16 · 05/01/2017 07:36

Your boys' names are nice apart from Rusty (makes me think of the dog in the children's books set on a farm Confused.

I only like Eden on your girls' list.

Dolwar · 05/01/2017 08:29

No it should be yo-an if you're saying it the correct Welsh way

RenovatingHouseWithKids · 05/01/2017 09:37

Wybert sounds like a nice pronounciation. Ooh hope we've helped you find your perfect boy name, horatio! Good point about nn rusty for Raphael. Actually come to think of it I've never looked into the origins of the name rusty.

That thread has made me laugh so much. Npeter with a silent N, 😂😂😂. Thanks Raines!

Thanks for the info Dolwar. Does it rhyme with Joanne?

SausageSoda · 05/01/2017 09:40

Rusty is fine but only as a nn for Russell which is aname I don't like.

My favourites from your list are Harrison, Pearl and Calista

Raines100 · 05/01/2017 09:44

Well, someone had to bring that article to the baby names board Grin

1horatio I look forward to hearing of the arrival of little Wigbert Horatio in due course Grin

1horatio · 05/01/2017 10:20

reno I don't think it'll be Wigbert. It is a nice name, but... eh.😂 And it doesn't work in my native languages.
raines

DH's middle name is Horatio. So, reusing that isn't a bad idea ;)

But I currently love the names Anton, Raoul, Julius, Basil and Ignatius. And Alfreda (thanks to that thread you posted... who would have throught? I love Alberta but hate the nn Berta. So that thread was actually useful :0!!), Gemma, Viviana, Antonia and Josephine...

Anyhow, I'm rambling (had a little accident and am bored at home) and shouldn't be hijacking a thread with my name choices.

Good luck, OP;)

RenovatingHouseWithKids · 05/01/2017 10:26

Haha, no it's nice to have everyone join in! Hope you rest up and get well soon. Esp before that baby arrives! Ooh I like you're names, and Josephine is just beautiful in so many languages!

AlwaysTeaTime · 05/01/2017 12:02

Raphael nn Raff and Wilf, but only if short for Wilfred because then he can be Fred/ Freddie if he likes! And I love Ophelia- the three I know go by PhePhe, and Callista is beautiful too. Not as keen on the others

Artandco · 05/01/2017 12:03

What about Florian?

MitzyLeFrouf · 05/01/2017 12:49

Florian is a ruddy cheeked, lederhosen wearing, country bumpkin. He simply can't compete with the beautiful Raphael.

1horatio · 05/01/2017 12:53

I like the name Florian. And Fabian, btw ;)

Raphael is nice. But 'Wilf' Wilfred is nicer imo. (But only if Wilf is short for Wilfred, I agree with a previous user)

Artandco · 05/01/2017 12:53

Ah see both Florians I know are Italians, tall and handsome

MitzyLeFrouf · 05/01/2017 12:55

I won't lie, a tall, handsome Italian Florian could convert me to the name Grin

Wilfred though, I really don't get the appeal with that one. It sounds like such a weak name.

Floridasunset · 05/01/2017 12:55

So glad I found this thread. I love love LOVE Raphael and it's been added to my very short boys list.
Eden is beautiful from your girls list OP

maitaimojito · 05/01/2017 12:58

I love Raphael and Eden. None of the others really jump out at me.

1horatio · 05/01/2017 13:02

mitzy

I actually do know a tall, dark and blue-eyed Florian Grin.

He's German-Italian, I think Wink

RenovatingHouseWithKids · 05/01/2017 16:11

I'll try to remember to pop back and tell you what we decide on once the baby arrives. Wonder what the chances of that are?! Thanks everyone for al of your opinions and suggestions, so helpful and appreciated x
