Just heard it on TV, I quite like it? What could it be short for?

Paul Newman played Brick in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, one of my favourite films. But I think Americans can carry that kind of name off better than Brits...

MindTheGarp · 26/07/2016 18:26

I know a Breck if that helps

iklboo · 26/07/2016 20:21

I've gone all wibbly remembering Paul Newman in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof

Owlytellsmesecrets · 26/07/2016 20:30

..... And it rhymes with prick!

IoraRua · 26/07/2016 23:06

As in Samantha, she of divine beauty? Lol. No.

You could get away with Brock, maybe...

RJnomore1 · 26/07/2016 23:13

I quite liked lintel.

Twiceover · 26/07/2016 23:22

Does anyone else remember the Shadwell poem about a brick? It went something like...adopts string Welsh accent
'Hello brick, what have you been doing today?'
'We'll nothing, I'm a brick aren't I?'
'Oh...Yes.'

That's what I'd think of. I may be in a minority of one though. Smile

EreniTheFrog · 27/07/2016 13:34

No. Just, no. And it's perilously close to Brock Whathisface, who got pretty much let off from rape because he was a posh white athlete.

mumsnit · 29/07/2016 10:09

I used to know a boy called Brick, short for Brychan which is a Welsh boys name.

He wasn't teased about his name as much as you'd think!

Missgraeme · 29/07/2016 10:16

Yeah. Nice solid name!!

TendonQueen · 29/07/2016 10:23

I like The Middle a lot, but I thought the joke was that they've pretty much lost interest by the time third child Brick comes along, hence the 'taken for granted' daft name. It screams 'not really bothered'.

BertrandRussell · 29/07/2016 10:26

Were you watching Outnumbered?

When I was a student we elected an actual brick President of the Union. His slogan was "Vote Brick- safe as houses"
Ridiculous name, by the way.

HarryPottersMagicWand · 29/07/2016 23:20

Oh it's fantastic and so original. You will be congratulated on giving your child a name that definitely isn't in the top 10.

No not really, don't be so fucking ridiculous!

SanityClause · 29/07/2016 23:28

But I think Americans can carry that kind of name off better than Brits...

Hmm, no. You wouldn't want to be a Brit Brick.

pollyblack · 29/07/2016 23:35

I remember watching that show and liking both Brick and Axel. I wouldn't use either of them IRK but I did like them- in the end used a name similar to Axl!

Cguk81 · 29/07/2016 23:42

Beautiful Baby Brick...such a sweet name Grin

ProfessorPickles · 29/07/2016 23:53

Hi, I'm Brick Tamland. People seem to like me because I am polite, and rarely late.

KnitFastDieWarm · 30/07/2016 00:01

I KILLED A GUY WITH A TRIDENT!
Grin

ProfessorPickles · 30/07/2016 00:05

I would like to extend to you an invitation to the pants party.

RainIsAGoodThing · 30/07/2016 00:05

I've now read the word brick so many times its lost all meaning, so at the moment it seems a perfectly reasonable name to me.

BettyDraper1 · 31/07/2016 16:45

Grin knit
