Poor little no-onename baby boy...:(

DS was born 3 days ago and still does not have a name!
we have a Margaret (Maggie) Roisin, surname two syllables starting with S.
I like Nathaniel, nn nate, but not entirely surE as were pretty down to earth and I think it might be a bit American sounding for us.
Dh likes Daniel, I don't mind it but there's just so many of them! I'm a teacher in a boys only school and am finding this so hard.
Dh has no sense of urgency about the whole thing, probably because he doesn't have his bloody mother calling every day to ask if we have a name yet!

He's Irish so hence Roisin for our daughter, will probably go for an Irish middle name, Oisin is my choice.

He doesn't like anything else, I like
Jude
Evan
Euan
Patrick
Niall

But the end sound of our surname is an n so some of those sound odd.

Any suggestions? I think we're going to need something totally different as he isn't nudging and Daniel just doesn't seem right.

A pic is added if that helps! I have tried to remind him that ds was nearly 9lbs and I only had paracetamol, plus I now have a tear and raging piles...apparently this gives me no leverage.

Oisin is a beautiful name, how about

Oisin Nathaniel S....
Oisin Daniel S....

Penguinotterfoxbadger · 07/04/2015 07:47

Danny or Patrick

Congratulations! Flowers

wigglylines · 07/04/2015 07:49

FWIW DD had no name for 2 weeks. We did what you're doing and tried names out. It was a process we had to go through. You need to be happy with the name, not rush into it, tell your mum she'll just have to wait!

Loveleopardprint · 07/04/2015 07:50

Cameron.
Congratulations!!!'

Namechanged101 · 07/04/2015 07:50

He's lovely OP congrats!
Billy popped into my mind but I love Nate too great name.
I like Daniel I think it there might be a lot of Dan's/Danny's around but Daniel in full is so much nicer.

BowiesJumper · 07/04/2015 07:54

What a cutie! Going with the Irish names-
Eoin
Cillian
Ciaran
Aidan
Donal

David
Lucas

Namechanged101 · 07/04/2015 07:59

Love Jude also

Blondie87 · 07/04/2015 08:00

He's lovely! I think he looks like a Patrick, Daniel or Euan imo.

BernadetteMatthews · 07/04/2015 08:00

Not Daniel, it's a dull name and your baby is far too gorgeous for it.

What about Ted or Ned, Sam or Freddy. Or JonJo for something a bit different.

IthinkIneedmorewine · 07/04/2015 08:01

He is lovely, congratulations Thanks
I love Patrick. What about Peter?

Brendan?

Patrick was my first choice for DS, but we let DD choose his name and she chose Tom.

Guin1 · 07/04/2015 08:40

Don't feel rushed to pick a name OP - my DS took 4 weeks and DD took 5!

FWIW I love Nathaniel/Nathan/Nate/Nat and would never have considered any of them to be American sounding. Also I think it's unlikely there would be another Daniel in his class, or only one other at most.

Oisin is lovely and Connell, as suggested upthread, has the family link. So that makes four good names to choose from for his first and middle names.

He is beautiful - congrats! Flowers

Namechanged101 · 07/04/2015 08:44

I know a little Callan not sure if that's Irish or Scottish but such a gorgeous name and I'd never met anyone else with that name

catchingzzzeds · 07/04/2015 08:51

Jacob

He is beautiful OP Flowers

I think Nate is lovely. It fits nicely with Maggie too.
Daniel is nice enough but it's nothing special.
I love Jude it was my choice for DS1 but DH won as I was too wiped out from the birth. This was the same for all my three boys, DH got his choice of first name in the delivery room and I picked the middle names a couple of days in. That said I do love their names, they are just more popular than The ones I had picked.

IvoryMadonna · 07/04/2015 11:52

Michael

maplebaconchips · 07/04/2015 12:00

Dh and I both think he looks like a Jonathan. He is beautiful! Congratulations!

GoooRooo · 07/04/2015 12:07

Vincent (Vinnie)

He's gorgeous :)

missmakesstuff · 07/04/2015 12:18

Thanks all, there are so many lovely names there, I really like so many, it's DH who is the picky one...
were trying Daniel (Danny) today. so glad that we aren't the only indecisive ones..I guess at least this is taking my mind off not being able to sit down...

DH is annoying me though, he's like a stuck record as he just refuses to make any other suggestions or consider alternatives. Daniel is nice but I just don't love it..yet. Maybe it just takes time for some names to settle in.

I do like Connell actually, maybe Conn as a nn.
He'll probably turn his nose up at that too.

Seriously thought I might get my own way once he'd seen me push a person out (dd was elcs) but apparently this carries no weight. I obviously didnt make enough fuss....

If you don't like Daniel then don't go for it just if dh is being suborn only go for it if it feels right. My oh was a pain in the arse when it came to taking about names but we got one we were both pleased with in the end.
You still have plenty of time :)

Worriedaboutthefallout · 07/04/2015 13:12

Few people have mentioned donal , this is an Irish form of Daniel , it means mighty ruler , my partner is irish desenct and he has a cousin called donal . I love the name . Your son is beautiful .

CapnMurica · 07/04/2015 13:18

I have a Nathan Smile he would have been Nate if a hilarious mis-spelling of his name had not made him a Nafe! Grin

Congratulations he is beautiful.
