Poor little no-onename baby boy...:(

DS was born 3 days ago and still does not have a name!
we have a Margaret (Maggie) Roisin, surname two syllables starting with S.
I like Nathaniel, nn nate, but not entirely surE as were pretty down to earth and I think it might be a bit American sounding for us.
Dh likes Daniel, I don't mind it but there's just so many of them! I'm a teacher in a boys only school and am finding this so hard.
Dh has no sense of urgency about the whole thing, probably because he doesn't have his bloody mother calling every day to ask if we have a name yet!

He's Irish so hence Roisin for our daughter, will probably go for an Irish middle name, Oisin is my choice.

He doesn't like anything else, I like
Jude
Evan
Euan
Patrick
Niall

But the end sound of our surname is an n so some of those sound odd.

Any suggestions? I think we're going to need something totally different as he isn't nudging and Daniel just doesn't seem right.

A pic is added if that helps! I have tried to remind him that ds was nearly 9lbs and I only had paracetamol, plus I now have a tear and raging piles...apparently this gives me no leverage.

He looks like my ds! He is a Nathaniel. We also liked Benjamin and Evan.
Is he a Christopher?

Thesmallbear yes of course, thank you, I need to pop in and update on the thread!

Maryz yep, I know, DH doesn't like it anyway, he's also against any Irish names as first names as he says everyone pronounces them badly...which is why we can't have Ethan in the running as he isn't able to pronounce it!

I'm just grasping at anything now...

He's just told me he's had an email from a Nathan, surname same as ours..I told him it's a sign!

Nolan?

mrsmeerkat · 07/04/2015 18:30

It's a sign Grin

Chancewouldbefinething · 07/04/2015 22:39

I like

Nathaniel Patrick S***n

zippygeorgebungle · 09/04/2015 23:03

Lovely photo!

Michael?
Ruairi?
Gerard

I also like Daniel, and Donal. Can anyone confirm the pronunciation of Donal, though, I am sure it would be said with a hard "d" in England but is that correct or does it have a softer "d" sound?

turdfairynomore · 09/04/2015 23:09

I like Daniel (Dan) and & donal. Also love Daithi-but it's more "out there" Irish!!

Cherriesandapples · 09/04/2015 23:13

Jacob, cian

queentroutoftrouts · 09/04/2015 23:13

I think Ethan.

missmakesstuff · 10/04/2015 14:55

We're still not decide, he's a week old now...
I've started calling him Nate and Nathaniel and it's just become right somehow, but DH is just calling him baby. I've said we should let dd decide between Daniel and Nathaniel. Middl. Name will be the next problem! I like oisin but know how much of a pain it's been doing official paperwork with dd's middle nameof Roisin, as typing fada (s) doesn't work!
I am annoyed with dh though, I like so
many of the naMea suggested hereand we've Bern discussing this since 4 months ago, he just Will not budge or suggest anything. Thing is, he will be all non committal and 'i don't know, I don't mind's and then in 10 years or something he'll bring it up and say he didn't get a choice....

Nathaniel/Nate is so much nicer than Daniel. Daniel is the magnolia paint of boy's names.

He can't just dig his heels in on Daniel though and wait for you to give in. If he really dislikes Nathaniel he needs to come up with some new names and keep a discussion going.

Namechanged101 · 11/04/2015 19:53

Any decisions yet OP?

missmakesstuff · 11/04/2015 20:45

Nooooooo!

Doing my head in. I said just let our dd decide, she likes Nathaniel. (or SimonHmm)

Thing is, I've had to give him a deadline. I wantvto register him with dh, go out for a nice lunch or something after etc whilst he's still off work. But more importantly, ds has a minor skin tag that needs sorting and I can't get him referred until he's registered at a doctors...for which, he needs a name!

Men! Oh ok, just my dh. So stubborn!

I'm going to pull the ave from my sleeve, which is that I teach a boy with the name Dan and he always has this weird smell to him, plus spits when he talks. I just keep thinking of him when I hear Dan, which he will end up being called.

I think he looks like a Matthew.

Or Nathaniel

Bellejournee · 11/04/2015 21:05

Jonah Oisin
Tobias Oisin
Elias Oisin
Elliott Oisin

Bellejournee · 11/04/2015 21:06

Fynn?

GrouchyKiwi · 11/04/2015 21:12

He's beautiful, congratulations OP. Making me broody again and DD2 is only 8 months!

I think Nathaniel will suit him nicely. It's a good, strong name. I also think it goes with Oisin.

Hope you've recovered and are getting to enjoy scrummy snuggles with your perfect little boy.

There was a discussion up thread about Connell / Conal. I know your husband isn't keen on Irish names due to pronunciation problems, but Conn is a name in its own right. A nod to O'Connell, but no pronunciation worries.
Nathaniel is lovely though, and he is gorgeous. Congratulations.

IvoryMadonna · 11/04/2015 21:54

Or there's Conrad!
