Poor little no-onename baby boy...:(

DS was born 3 days ago and still does not have a name!
we have a Margaret (Maggie) Roisin, surname two syllables starting with S.
I like Nathaniel, nn nate, but not entirely surE as were pretty down to earth and I think it might be a bit American sounding for us.
Dh likes Daniel, I don't mind it but there's just so many of them! I'm a teacher in a boys only school and am finding this so hard.
Dh has no sense of urgency about the whole thing, probably because he doesn't have his bloody mother calling every day to ask if we have a name yet!

He's Irish so hence Roisin for our daughter, will probably go for an Irish middle name, Oisin is my choice.

He doesn't like anything else, I like
Jude
Evan
Euan
Patrick
Niall

But the end sound of our surname is an n so some of those sound odd.

Any suggestions? I think we're going to need something totally different as he isn't nudging and Daniel just doesn't seem right.

A pic is added if that helps! I have tried to remind him that ds was nearly 9lbs and I only had paracetamol, plus I now have a tear and raging piles...apparently this gives me no leverage.

Thanks all, he is lovely and totally makes up for the pain!
there's lots of great suggestions here, lots I like and had considered/Suggested.

Dh likes Daniel because hes related to Daniel O Connell (the great emancipator..Irish thing) and is all like 'its my heritage...'

whereas all I can think is him being one of 5 Daniels in his class and always being Daniel S...

This was so easy with dd! We just knew.. Feeling really bad for the little fella...

Maybe Danny would be his nickname though...which would be different I guess.

To me he looks like a Logan or a Ewen :) What a cutie!

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 06/04/2015 23:16

I think he's a George but that's prob far too popular for you..
Arthur?
Mathew?
He is so gorgeous!

gallicgirl · 06/04/2015 23:16

He's a sweetie.

Daniel was on our list along with Edward, Aidan, Fergus and Max. We couldn't decide so asked DD which she preferred.

I love Patrick too. Think it would sound great.

ZenNudist · 06/04/2015 23:17

I have a Nathaniel / Nate. Pretty sure it's the best name ever. Not too overused but not too unusual.

I went for a more classic / common ds2 name as I wanted to name with what feels good in my heart rather than be to enslaved to the idea that you can't have a common name.

Which is a roundabout way if saying if you both like Daniel you should go with it. It's strong, classic , solid nn. You'll both feel like you agreed on the name together. I think you're overplaying the several Daniels in a class thing. I don't know any here !! Plus dh has very common name and it's never bothered him.

OneMagnumisneverenough · 06/04/2015 23:19

What about Connell then?

BaronessBomburst · 06/04/2015 23:21

I like Patrick.

What's Daniel in Irish? Or is it the same?

LeahLeah · 06/04/2015 23:21

I just really like Reuben.
I think it's cute, your boy is mega cute too! Congrats xx

OneMagnumisneverenough · 06/04/2015 23:22

Just looked up the meaning and it has a great link to Easter - if you are religious or even if you are not - it's a great link :)

Dainial or Dainéal according to google.
Go with Patrick. Wink

OneMagnumisneverenough · 06/04/2015 23:23

or was that stupid and your surname is still the same?

WhatAHooHa · 06/04/2015 23:24

He's gorgeous, congratulations! He looks like a Connor or a Chris to me. DH says John, James, or Harry. Btw, we have a Daniel Patrick and have never noticed there being a lot of other Daniels around. I'd say its a fairly safe bet.
I do also know a 3-year old Nate and it doesn't seem at all American on him, he's also from a very down-to-earth family.

Allalonenow · 06/04/2015 23:24

He's beautiful. Easter Smile

I like Rory Lorcan and Magnus.

He is so so beautiful. I've name changed but i recognise you from some TTC threads a couple of years ago. Congratulations. Flowers

I think he'd quite suit Daniel/Danny actually.

smable · 06/04/2015 23:26

Congratulations he is lovely
How about Jonathan/Johhny or Jonty not too common but still down to earth and I think goes well with Maggie

WhatAHooHa · 06/04/2015 23:27

Oh, or Matthew. I've always wanted a Matthew but it really doesn't go with our surname.

strawberry01 · 06/04/2015 23:27

He is beautiful. I think he suits Daniel.

What about :

Ryan, Calum, Ross, Cameron, Alexander?

Between · 06/04/2015 23:30

Nathanial 'Nate' is fab and not American sounding to me.

MamaDoGood · 06/04/2015 23:31

Connor !!! Not overly popular/link to O'CONnel/Irish sounding to match big sister.

Congratulations xSmile

missmakesstuff · 06/04/2015 23:33

Thanks everyone, were going to try a few of those out over the next few days. Maybe Daniel will grow on me..
forky thankyou, it's taken us a long time and some heartache for him to finally be here, so glad he is.

Connel? It's a bit like Connor, a bit different and has the Irish link then without being an Irish name. My friend at work has a Connel, it was cute when he was little and now he's almost a teen and has grown with it.

He's absolutely beautiful. I agree he looks like a Daniel!

Belazu84 · 07/04/2015 07:26

I like Daniel.

I have an Irish friend called Donal?

Gorgeous boy x

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 07/04/2015 07:29

Owen?

fannyfanakapan · 07/04/2015 07:41

Dont fret OP, DS2 was 3 weeks old before he had a name. We had liked Nathaniel, but he didn't look like a Nathaniel when he was born, being very blonde and very long limbed. Our contenders became Caleb (was very faddy at the time), Dominic and finally settled on Daniel. Although it was ranked No. 9 at the time of his birth, he doesn't have any other Daniels in his class, and never has.

My godson is Kieran (sister is Roisin). I like Euan from your list - he does look like a Euan to me. (and gorgeous!)
