DD2 is here and we can't decide on a name

DD2 arrived last week and we're still struggling to pick from our shortlist.

DD1 is Beatrice (Bea) and I'd like something similar in style, classic, lots of history.

Our final names for DD2 are:

Lucy
Tabitha
Rosalind
Sophie

But maybe we're missing something? All opinions and suggestions welcome.

They're all lovely names. I think Beatrice and Rosalind sound particularly nice together. Sophie and Lucy are nice too but there seem to be quite a few small ones about at the moment. The one person I know called tabitha ended up with nn. Tab which doesn't sound great imo.

Velvetbee · 09/12/2014 14:50

Beatrice and Rosalind are lovely together. Would they be Bea and Rosa?

AndHarry · 09/12/2014 14:51

Rosalind is beautiful. I like all of them but it seems to go best with Beatrice.

moxon · 09/12/2014 15:02

I like Rosalind and Lucy.
Might become Bea and Rosie or Bea and Luce to their friends, if that helps?

squoosh · 09/12/2014 15:44

Congrats OP! Flowers

Lucy and Tabitha are both lovely.

Not at all keen on Rosalind or Sophie. Far too many Sophies in the world as it is.

abbaroony · 09/12/2014 15:50

My sister is a Rosalind, I love the name, my only word of warning is that we shorten it to Rosi, and spelt like that everyone calls her Rosie, whereas we pronounce Rosi 'Roz-ee'.

Might just be something to bear in mind when shortening/spelling it! (I personally prefer the Rosa shortening).

Legionofboom · 09/12/2014 15:54

Rosalind is gorgeous, the best on your list by a long, long way.

It goes beautifully with Beatrice too.

Rosalind feels like quite a grown up name though so maybe consider a shortening that you like for now. Lots of choice there.

squoosh · 09/12/2014 15:56

Can't believe all the love for Rosalind. It's so clunky.

loislines · 09/12/2014 16:42

Another vote for Rosalind. Gorgeous name and good nicknames too.

SomeSunnySunday · 09/12/2014 16:53

I really like all of them. Personally I wouldn't use Lucy or Sophie as they are just too popular around here, but that's just me - if popular doesn't bother you they are lovely names.

Rosalind is probably my favourite, though.

birchwoods · 09/12/2014 16:54

I like Tabitha the most. It's such a pretty name. I know a Tabitha who is known as Taba.

I agree, Rosalind is so clunky!

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 09/12/2014 18:25

Tabitha or Rosalind are perfect with Beatrice.
Not keen on Lucy or Sophie too popular and plain.

My choice would have to be Rosalind.

Vanillepudding · 09/12/2014 18:28

Olivia?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 09/12/2014 18:32

Congratulations. Unfortunately, to me, none of those sound anywhere near as nice as Beatrice. If I had to pick one, it would be Lucy - but it's not really doing much for me.

Beatrice and Isobel/Isolde
Beatrice and Emmeline/Emily/Elinor
Beatrice and Cassandra (Cassie)
Beatrice and Marianne
Beatrice and Juliet

capercaillie · 09/12/2014 18:35

Rosalind is beautiful and goes well with Beatrice.

Tabitha also nice.

Lucy and Sophie don't go with Beatrice as well.

Philippa, Elizabeth, Katherine and Susannah also similar names

petitdonkey · 09/12/2014 18:36

I like all on your list. Love Lucy but love Luciana even more - would that make it 'fit' for you more? Or Lucinda? I know two Lucianas - one pronounced the Italian way, one the anglicised version, both lovely.

Conratulations on baby Flowers

Sophie - Soph

Tabitha - Tabs

bluewisteria · 09/12/2014 18:40

Beatrice & Letice

claracluck1978 · 09/12/2014 18:41

Clementine
Beatrice & Clementine would have been the names of our twins had they turned out to be girls & I love them together!

TheCowThatLaughs · 09/12/2014 18:41

Rosalind or tabitha

Castlemilk · 09/12/2014 18:43

I can see why you're struggling, all together they're a group of nice names, but alone none stands out. Rosalind would end up as Rosie - which is pretty overused really.

Cordelia?
Minerva?

TwiggyHeart · 09/12/2014 18:46

I know a lovely Tabitha, that gets my vote!

WhatsGoingOnEh · 09/12/2014 18:47

I really don't like Rosalind, sorry. She'll be called Roz.

Ophelia?
Katherine?
Juliet?
Elizabeth?

BlueStarsAtNight · 09/12/2014 18:48

I def think Rosalind goes best, and I love Rosa. I think I slightly prefer Rosalie to Rosalind.

Sophie and Lucy don't sound quite 'enough' to me with Beatrice, and I'm really not keen on Tabitha.

Also how about Abigail, Penelope, Francesca

PenelopePitstops · 09/12/2014 18:48

Sylvie?
