DD2 is here and we can't decide on a name

DD2 arrived last week and we're still struggling to pick from our shortlist.

DD1 is Beatrice (Bea) and I'd like something similar in style, classic, lots of history.

Our final names for DD2 are:

Lucy
Tabitha
Rosalind
Sophie

But maybe we're missing something? All opinions and suggestions welcome.

I always think that Sophia goes well with Beatrice

Or Matilda.

I don't think any of your shortlisted names are as nice as Beatrice, but I do quite like Tabitha.

ELR · 10/12/2014 14:30

Love Tabitha, and also like Juliet not keen on Sophie and Lucy. I like rosa but not sure about rosalind

MimiSunshine · 10/12/2014 15:22

Alexandria over Alexandra with Andi as a nickname
or Georgiana with the nickname Gia / Gigi

Yorkshirelassreturns · 10/12/2014 16:17

Beatrice is such a lovely name it's hard to top! It's my daughter's middle name as it's my MIL's name so I didn't have the heart to use it as her first name as it would have upset my fab mum.

We have similar taste though. I think Lucy and Sophie are quite over used and I personally couldn't get past the inevitable nickname Tabs!!!!

Other names that were on our shortlist (my dd's name is on here...) were:

Felicity ( nn Flossie)
Florence (ditto)
Annabelle (Belle)
Elizabeth (Bess / Betsy)

There's something quite adorable about a little Bea and Bess or Belle running around together!

Congratulations and let us know what you decide x

Yorkshirelassreturns · 10/12/2014 16:19

Oh and Juliet. Whoops! That's the name of dd2 if we have another girl! X

DertieBertie · 10/12/2014 16:37

Sylvia? Verity? Florence? Marcelline? Jocelyn?

Congratulations on your little girl! Flowers

BlackberryandNettle · 10/12/2014 17:04

I think Rosalind and Lucy both go well with Beatrice and have nice nicknames to match Bea. Congratulations!

vyvie99 · 10/12/2014 18:59

Congratulations!

I actually love Sophie despite the other comments and with a four year old and a two year old in London haven't come across another yet (although Sophias/Sofias seem to be everywhere)

I think Sophie is classic, simple yet sophisticated and goes well with Beatrice.

Good luck and keep us posted on your decision.

Cocolate · 10/12/2014 19:02

Another one for Rosalind - so versatile and I know baby Rosa's plus adult Rosalind's and Rosie's....
Congratulations. Pick a name and try it for size for a few days. I know many mothers who've changed their minds after a bit. My dd started with one name and at 1 week old I changed it. Unfortunately I had already registered it....

cloggal · 10/12/2014 19:08

Rosaline?

longestlurkerever · 10/12/2014 19:14

I like the previous suggestion of Eleanor and think it would go beautifully with Beatrice.

clairewitchproject · 10/12/2014 19:15

Cecily? I know a little Cecily Rose.

redrubyindigo · 10/12/2014 19:30

Love Rosalind but dislike Roz as a nn.

Lorna
Claudia
Martha
Roberta - Bea and Bobbie
Edith
Anne - Beatrice and Anne sounds lovely together
Hope
Faith but NOT Charity!
Louisa
Alexandria

redrubyindigo · 10/12/2014 19:32

Forgot one other name;

Persephone

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 10/12/2014 19:39

Cecelia
Lucia
Florence
Alexandra

Thisisanoutrage · 10/12/2014 19:49

Lydia
Ramona
Alexandra
Mariella
Merryn

Iheartautumn · 10/12/2014 19:51

I like Lucy

Thisisanoutrage · 10/12/2014 19:53

Or Margot

ethelb · 10/12/2014 19:56

Sophie or Martha

redrubyindigo · 12/12/2014 20:11

Has OP decided yet?

ladygee · 15/12/2014 14:41

Sorry for the radio silence, it's been a busy few days with much discussion about DD's name.

We think we're nearly there with a decision - Alexandra. DH and I are road testing it at home hopefully before announcing to family and friends in a couple of days.

Thank you all for your help in getting us here.

If DS was a DD he would have been an Alexandra, (nn Lexie). Love the name and it goes well with Beatrice. Congrats & well done on narrowing down the names.

Castlemilk · 16/12/2014 19:13

Like Alexandra, but don't like the nicknames - Alex is ok, Sandra and Lexie not so great I think.

Bea and Alex?

cloggal · 16/12/2014 19:23

I like it. I think Alexa goes better with Beatrice but it's a similar 'weight' of name iyswim

Hedgehogsbuzz1 · 16/12/2014 19:30

Aurora and Beatrice

Alice and Beatrice
