Just how crazy would it be? My DH is not buying it, but I think it's such a sweet sweet name for our little girl. We are lucky to have a classic last name which almost anything goes with. Advice please? I know it's a little bit out there but I love it .....

Marlow + Bambi to me = Marleigh. Which sounds less offensive to my ear (although not quite my taste. Any good? Or maybe Carly or Harley!

MrsPatMustard · 19/10/2014 17:51

Please don't. Sounds like bimbo. It's a porn star's name...

PuppyMonkey · 19/10/2014 17:52

Came on to suggest Amber instead but see it's already been suggested .

I think the fact you have a normal surname actually makes the Bambi thing worse. I'm imagining:

Bambi Smith
Bambi Jones
Bambi Robinson

Arf Grin

ShadowStar · 19/10/2014 19:31

Marlow makes me think of the fictional private investigator Philip Marlowe, so it doesn't sound very soft to me. The associations with crime and hard drinking give it a hard (and masculine) edge in my mind.

funnyoldonion · 19/10/2014 19:38

Love Biba! And Marlow!

I have an idea, call her Fawn (I wanted this for my daughter but her middle name were to be Dawn, so you see my predicament!)

Yeah so officially Fawn, with Bambi as a nickname. I do it with my daughter, her name is Wren and I call her birdie xxxx

beavington · 19/10/2014 19:47

A pp just invented Marleigh so how about Marnie instead, i love that name.

Bambi is a cute name. For an animated deer.

IsabellaRockerfeller · 19/10/2014 19:59

Biba is a fantastic name!

We know a little Bibi which is kind of a cross between Bambi and Biba, do you like that?

Marnie?

Layl77 · 19/10/2014 20:00

Would you want to be called Bambi?

Flipflops7 · 19/10/2014 20:15

Amber is near enough, and you can use Bambi as a nn at home.

Alisvolatpropiis · 20/10/2014 19:29

Marleigh would just be a variant spelling of Marley, no?

You absolutely cannot call her Bambi. Ridiculous.

lisucbgiberiocnha · 20/10/2014 21:38

Bambi Smith
Bambi Jones

Similar but different - Naomi, Bunny, Bebe, Hebe, Amber, Bonnie

MrsMcRuff · 21/10/2014 01:12

I've had a brainwave- how about Bunty? There you are, op. All sorted!

lunar1 · 21/10/2014 01:42

Biba is just as bad as bambi!

SingingSoftly · 22/10/2014 12:30

Grin Cote I must be really hormonal! Bambi sounds great to me! I would love it. DH would never allow it. I might put it on my list though, because I enjoy the horrified looks MIL gives me when I tell her what I have come up with this week.

Bumpngrind85 · 22/10/2014 14:17

singingsoftly my MIL would shit frisbee's if I told her I was considering it. It just makes me love it all the more :)
I really am struggling to come up with a name ... My DH doesnt like Marnie and Biba just makes me think of that horrid Justin kid!

aoife24 · 22/10/2014 14:34

as a nickname maybe, if she is doe-eyed and a bit skittish, otherwise, don't be daft Smile

Mammanat222 · 22/10/2014 15:31

It's what DS calls our cat! (She isn't called Bambi but hey ho!)

Not a name for a baby IMO.

BumpAndGrind · 22/10/2014 15:33

another bumpandgrind? I definitely need a name change now....

DecaffTastesWeird · 22/10/2014 16:44

Lol squoosh

Bambi is not my cup of tea. I actually love Orla. You could spell it Orlaith to avoid the whole oral thing maybe?

CruCru · 22/10/2014 17:02

Did you ever see The Secret Diary of a Call Girl on ITV? It was the name of one of the prostitutes. Please don't call your girl that.

Allisgood1 · 22/10/2014 17:10

Please don't do it. It's very stripper like.

Biba/ Bibi could be a nickname for Sabina/Sabrina if you wanted a 'proper name' for the birth certificate.

Not keen on Bambi except as a nickname, sorry...

UriGeller · 22/10/2014 20:15

MrsMcRuff Grin Grin Bunty!! Omg I'd forgotten that one! Sheer brilliance! Loved that thread hahaha Grin

UriGeller · 22/10/2014 20:18

Marnie as "our Marnie" is just as bad as little Goochy and the twins Dollchay and Gabarnah.

Biba is short for Habiba though and is quite lovely.
