Will and Kate don't strike me as a couple who will venture far beyond the boundaries of John and Victoria and similar standard names.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 09/09/2014 17:37

What about something like Rebecca or Hannah?

squoosh · 09/09/2014 17:40

I'm sure lots of Rebeccas and Hannahs have visited Buckingham Palace over the years...........as servants.

Maybe they'll go a bit Euro chic royal and pick something like Marina.

MagicalHamSandwich · 09/09/2014 17:41

florascotia · 10/09/2014 10:59

The Danish royals gave their babies national ethnic minority middle names.

So what about a Welsh or Gaelic or Cornish middle name for the forthcoming baby?

PetaPipa · 10/09/2014 11:32

Princess Matilda
Prince Alfred

Clarinet9 · 10/09/2014 11:32

Sophronia good point about Henry/Harry ( and I agree about the conservative choices and naming after close relatives) for some reason I had it in my head he was a Harry so I thought it would be a nice way of recognising him IYSWIM

I know Arthur has been used in the past but I wondered if there was something I was missing as to why it kept getting suggested it seems pretty popular on here is it becoming more common for current babies.

I had forgotten about Helena beautiful and very classic name And it gets the Greek link in!

florascotia · 10/09/2014 11:44

One of Queen Victoria's daughters was called Helena.

florascotia · 10/09/2014 11:46

Meant to add to message-before-last that a middle name from any ethnic community in the UK or indeed Commonwealth would be just as good as a Welsh, Gaelic, Cornish one.

Vintagejazz · 10/09/2014 12:07

Haven't a clue but if I was Kate I might consider Elizabeth shortened to Eliza or Beth for everyday use. Helena and Alice are lovely as well.

bouncingbelle · 10/09/2014 12:10

I'm convinced it'll be Arthur for a boy.

Eleanor Elizabeth for a girl.

Mammanat222 · 10/09/2014 16:45

They aren't going to use James (think of the James Hewitt link) also Kate's brother is James.

(I did my research when first was born as I didn't want them to use my son's name!!)

Elizabeth is too current, I think they'll go back a few generations. Maybe something like Helena?

I am going to go for Henry or Helena

mathanxiety · 10/09/2014 18:18

William has a cousin James too...

So - Philip Arthur Christian

googietheegg · 10/09/2014 18:53

Wasn't there a princess Alice of the queen's generation that was disabled and hidden away? I don't suppose the royal family would want to be reminded of how they treated her...

mathanxiety · 10/09/2014 19:07

There was an Alice who was the second of Victoria's children.

Are you thinking of Nerissa and Katherine Bowes Lyon? They are cousins of QE2.

Prince John, brother to Albert (George VI) and 'David' (Edward VIII) , had epilepsy and possibly autism, and lived away from the rest of the family in his own little house Sad at Sandringham with servants until he died at a young age.

Blondiemama · 11/09/2014 06:52

Prince Frederick/ Alfred

Princess Matilda
