Thanks squoosh!

DS's name has gone down about 100 places, and he was already outside the top 500. He was born in 2014 it'll be interesting to see what happens with that.

When I browsing I noticed there's 54 Axels. I know one of them and I hope the other 53 are nicer than he is!

moggle · 15/08/2014 18:43

toast- seems a bit harsh to say that about a

RedToothBrush · 15/08/2014 18:52

Its amazing how many more parents of girls are unable to spell compared with parents of boys.

wingcommandergallic · 15/08/2014 19:09

Thanks Oxtail and thanks for the dark greener link . I'd forgotten about that site.

I reckon Edward will rise significantly next year too. One of the few boys names I like

DownstairsMixUp · 15/08/2014 19:15

Not surprised at how well Charlie is doing. There were 3 boy Charlie's in my DS nursery and one girl one to! It's not a big nursery either. It's a huge name round here! I hear a lot of Isabella's for girls here to.

charlyn · 15/08/2014 19:15

Thatstoast I met a 2013 Axel at a baby group, didn't think it really suited a baby.

FelixFelix · 15/08/2014 20:02

AWombWithoutARoof I am the X name Grin

thatstoast · 15/08/2014 20:14

moggle, I actually toned it down a bit Blush

I know it's awful but he goes to same soft play and just walks around hitting other children. I do worry about whether that's learned behaviour or just a phase of some sort. I don't know the parents tbh so i'm probably hand-wringing unnecessarily.

Pandora37 · 15/08/2014 20:50

I'm surprised that Eve is out of the top 100 now considering how popular Evie, Evelyn and Eva are.

I'm also surprised at how popular Isla and Poppy are. I thought Isla would be top 10 but not top 5 and Poppy seems to have been around for ages so I wonder why it's suddenly shot up?

WhiteHairReally · 15/08/2014 23:16

These lists include middle names don't they? Tell me that there really weren't 302 baby Alans born last year but a good number of them given it as a mn after a much loved grandfather?

My own elderly DD (by Mumsnet standards) has a name that was and remains a very popular mn. It was relatively high when she was born but we didn't come across any others until she went to university.

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 15/08/2014 23:31

DS1 and DS2's names have shot up in popularity - into the top 900 and top 600 respectively Grin

zazie7 · 16/08/2014 08:24

No, WhiteHair, it only counts first names. So there really are that many Alans.

WhiteHairReally · 17/08/2014 16:44

Thanks zazie. I am amazed.

RedToothBrush · 17/08/2014 17:05

I've found the list very interesting. Some of the common suggestion on MN rank very low and its surprising just how many parents do name their children something like Alan.

DoctorLawn · 17/08/2014 17:36

And Derek! There were 13 of those, I think. Amazing.

TheFace · 17/08/2014 17:41

Hi, can someone tell me how my Henry's were born last year. None of the links are working on my phone Sad

florascotia · 17/08/2014 18:10

Henry no 18 with 3248 babies.

Harry no 3 with 5888 names.

FabulousFudge · 17/08/2014 21:04

I thought that I didn't know any Amelias either, but then I realised that I know loads, it's just that they're all known as Milly!

Theonlyoneiknow · 17/08/2014 23:12

I imagine there will be quite a difference compared to the top 100 names in Scotland. Does anyone know when they are released?

TheFace · 18/08/2014 02:27

Thanks so much Smile

HollyBen · 19/08/2014 21:27

There were 3 boys in Scotland named A last year and a couple called C. Surely these are letters not names!

On a different note, I know 2 boys born last year in Scotland who were the only boys to be given that name
