Megan, Lydia, Lara, Bianca or Allegra??

Opinions please!

And to pre-empt the usual criticisms...

  1. I have known a Lydia since I was 8 and never heard her name rhymed with any STIs
  2. Bianca to me is supermodel/humanitarian, Shakespearean characters, brave little Disney mice - not Eastenders characters
  3. I don't even remember Austin Allegros so doubt it will be an issue for babies being born in the near future
Grin

TIA! Thanks

Lydia or Lara.

steppemum · 20/05/2014 23:09

Interesting selection because to me they are very different naming styles.

I like Megan and Lydia

don't like Bianca or Lara at all

Not keen on Allegra

But that reflects my naming style too!

StrawberryCheese · 20/05/2014 23:12

Lydia and Bianca for me. I wanted both but OH vetoed.

HippieInASecondLocation · 21/05/2014 06:13

Megan. Not keen on any of the others - they sound somewhat cold and harsh to me.

Trooperslane · 21/05/2014 06:15

Lara Grin

I love, love, love Allegra. Classy and unusual.

Love Lydia. Classic and old-fashioned.

Lara is harsh and very eighties-sounding, IMO. Ditto Bianca. They're not ugly names, just dated.

Megan is dull, overused and not pretty. (Apologies to any Megans.) My least favourite.

I like Lara and Lydia.

Bianca will attract constant Rickaaaay and EastEnders references though. It's a Shakespearean name to you, but for the majority of the public it is a gobby redhead (I don't even watch EE but I know about Bianca).

BikeRunSki · 21/05/2014 06:31

Lara
Megan

Don't like any of the rest

CrispyFern · 21/05/2014 06:33

Megan.

Eastpoint · 21/05/2014 06:36

I like Lara & Allegra, girls with both names in my DDs years at school (yr 8 & 11) but only one of each. Do you like Lana? Similar feel but even more unusual but classic - Lana Turner. Megan is easy too but quite a hard sounding name.

WhereHas1999DissappearedToo · 21/05/2014 06:41

Lara or Allegra. Both very pretty names and not to popular

Megan is a lovely name, but has been very overused the last few years.

Lydia is ok, but I wouldn't have thought that it would rhymed with STDS

Really not keen on Bianca, it screams Eastenders to me and very 80s

Bowlersarm · 21/05/2014 06:51

Lara

Lydia 100%

Nocturne123 · 21/05/2014 10:52

Megan and Lara are lovely

flipchart · 21/05/2014 10:54

I love them all. They are all lovely names.

Paddingtonthebear · 21/05/2014 10:56

Lara

Or Lana. But that's not on your list ??

I liked both but L names don't go well with our surname. I like short, strong names.

babblingsofbecks · 21/05/2014 10:57

Lara

bakingtins · 21/05/2014 11:44
