Megan, Lydia, Lara, Bianca or Allegra??

Opinions please!

And to pre-empt the usual criticisms...

  1. I have known a Lydia since I was 8 and never heard her name rhymed with any STIs
  2. Bianca to me is supermodel/humanitarian, Shakespearean characters, brave little Disney mice - not Eastenders characters
  3. I don't even remember Austin Allegros so doubt it will be an issue for babies being born in the near future
Grin

TIA! Thanks

That's a new car not an old one.

Paddingtonthebear · 21/05/2014 12:40

I worked with a lady called Allegra. She was not a people person and her nickname in the office was All Aggro

Fizzyplonk · 21/05/2014 13:11

Lara -lovely
Lydia -pleasant
Bianca-would be nice to see it used again (after EE)
Allegra-bit fussy
Megan-don't like much

nannyplum75 · 21/05/2014 13:14

Lara

Vintagejazz · 21/05/2014 13:27

I love the name Lydia and I think Lara is quite nice. I don't really like the others, although Meg is lovely.

smokeandfluff · 21/05/2014 13:53

Love Lydia

crankypants · 21/05/2014 14:01

Lara or Allegra.

Agree that Bianca is a bit harsh sounding, unless you have a French/Spanish etc accent??

What about Meghan or Meaghan, instead of Megan? Or Meg is v cute as suggested by pp.

Not a fan of Lydia.

baskingseals · 21/05/2014 15:07

Love Allegra and Bianca, good names for twins actually. Pick one of those op.

Rhubarbgarden · 21/05/2014 17:43

I love Lara and Lydia. Megan is terribly nineties. Loathe Allegra, too fussy and the car association is too strong for me. Bianca - why not? Pretty name and about time it was rehabilitated.

MotorLoo · 21/05/2014 17:44

I love Lara.

mathanxiety · 21/05/2014 18:15

I love Lara and Bianca. Both gorgeous, and unusual.

The others are meh to me, especially Megan.
There are a gazillion Megans and Meghans and Meagans and Meaghans (youneek) where I live. They are all about 20 to 25 now.
YYY to 'terribly nineties'.
Allegra is also an allergy medication (fwiw Wink)

Lydia -- I don't find the syllable 'lid' attractive.

Allegra is beautiful, and my favourite from your list.
Lydia is a close second.

Lottiedoubtie · 21/05/2014 18:21

Lara or Lydia

MollyBdenum · 21/05/2014 18:22

Allegra.

BlueStarsAtNight · 21/05/2014 20:05

I like Megan best, quite like Lydia and Lara, and not a fan of Bianca and Allegra

SanityClause · 21/05/2014 20:09

Lara

Poofus · 21/05/2014 20:12

Megan and Lydia are nice. I think the others are a bit grim, really.

Mynewone · 21/05/2014 20:14

Megan- nice but a tad boring
, Lydia-like
Lara- dislike
Bianca - it would be constant Ricky cries which is a shame as it is a nice name
Allegra- love love love fabulous name :)

whattimeisitanyway · 21/05/2014 20:20

Megan- dislike. I don't think it has an attractive sound, although I like Meg as a nick name.

Lydia- like this

Lara- ditto

Bianca-It's lovely but I think it still has too strong an attachment to Eastenders personally

Allegra- love it. I think it is an allergy medicine in The States but not here so irrelevant unless you have some American connections.

TheFutureSupremeRulersMum · 21/05/2014 20:33

Lydia

PandaWatch · 21/05/2014 22:31

Thanks for all your replies! I'm taking a positive view and focusing on the fact that at least one person liked each name Grin

We don't even know what we're having yet but I'm really struggling to come up with the right potential name. I absolutely love our DS's name. It's uncommon but not too out there and everyone seems to love it and we'd love something similar for DC2. Unfortunately my favourite girls name sounds too much like our DS's name. Argh!

HavantGuard oh ffs! My bro in law works for vauxhall too so that probably strikes that name off the list! Why can't car companies leave lovely people names alone?!

HavantGuard · 22/05/2014 08:13

It might be worth checking that they are actually still going to make it and use that name.

PandaWatch · 22/05/2014 10:30

I did, they are :(

Although they also have a model called Adam, so maybe I shouldn't be put off considering I very much doubt any one would be put off using Adam because of that Confused. What's next - the Vauxhall Dave?!
