Why does everyone hate Ellie so much?

Hello. I am an Eleanor nn Ellie. I've always loved both forms of my name but I always see on here that everyone hates the nn Ellie. I'm not offended I just wondered why? I don't know many children but I see that lots of people seem to prefer the nn Nell which personally I always hated as it sounds so frumpy! Just curious- is it the popularity? Has it become a bit chavvy? Honest answers- genuinely just curious!... X

It is def good to see honest opinions. I would personally rather be an Olivia than a Tess or Jane though even if I had to share my name with others (which I do, as I have a tedious and overdone name!)

My great Gran had a friend called Ellie not a shortened version like yours. Always thought it was a babyish name and didn't suit an old person. I was pretty horrible to her as a kid anyway, she was rather plump and I caller her Nellie the elephant

I wanted an Ellie (with a full name!) Eleanor, Eliana and Elizabeth were all on our list of names to shorten, i have Eloise now and still love the name Ellie as well as her full version
