Help in naming dd6 (dc10). I need opinions on some potential names .

we are expecting a girl in early July . she will be dd6 and dc10 .
Our shortlist include
Miranda lovely meaning but dh thinks it may be too associated with Miranda Hart
Clarissa
Winifred i love it for it's meaning but not sure if it's too clunky
Merewen love this especially it's meaning but is it too different
Cecilia
Hester

i really like the names Hester and Winifred but our surname is Westw**d .

so the question is could Hester Westw*d work or is the fact that it rhymes a real issue.?We've already discounted Esther for dd5 as we felt Esther Westw*d might sound to like a compass reference .

likewise is Winifred Westw**d OK or is the alliteration too much ?

dh has also suggested the name Mirabel but we have an Arabella .would Arabella and Mirabel be to samey for siblings ?

I also love the name Cecilia but we had major naming issues last time round dh initially agreeing to Cecilia but then changing his mind at the last minute and insisting on a name i really disliked but agreeing to cecily as a mn . In the end we changed dd5's name when she was a few months old to a compromise name .So i'm not sure whether i should avoid Cecilia as i don't want to open up any past hurts iyswim .

Your opinions would be welcome as i'm not sure if i'm over thinking some of these issues .

We considered an alliteration with our dd5 however, it did sound like a porn star name. We wanted to call her violet, however dhs surname is an unusual french surname beginning with V and it would to have worked. I'm glad we listened to our doubts, as I think the alliteration was too close.

I love Hester and ester, but understand your concerns.

I think Winifred wouldn't work, but I think Hester would.

Fwiw, my fantasy dd6 (and 7, because they would be twins) would be called Elke and Clementine. Or maybe Clemancy.

I Love Hester as a name and no I don't think it is too much with your surname.

Your names are fantastic btw. I will admit to thinking Hart when I see Miranda but thats because she is the only Miranda I have much dealings with

Winnifred is ok with yoursurname I wouldn't worry there I would be more worried if you wanted something like Woody

Merewen is PRETTY and people will get used to how to say it.

I would not go with Arabella and Mirabel to me they are to similar. (I have an Eloisa and a Aoife and they dont appear similar but they sound it and they both often come when I call out 1 name)

How about Ceridwen (Kerridwen)? Ceri for short.

What about Marissa? As an "in between" Miranda and Clarissa.

I don't think Hester goes with your surname.

I think Winifred goes, although I don't like it. (Love Arabella, much nicer)

I'm not sure about Hester or Winifred with your surname, the former is too rhymey and the latter is too much of a mouthful.

What about Camille or Camilla?

How about Clemency if he doesn't like Clementine?

i think we've discounted Merewen as when i hear it it seems to rhyme with heroin /heroine which i think could be a potential source of teasing as a teenager .
i also feel Hester won't work with our surname .

i hear and agree with all the negatives associated with Winifred but i still feel drawn to it and love it . So i'm not ready to dismiss it just yet .

Miranda and Clarissa are definitely the front runners though

Merewen is so beautiful. Would you consider Meredith instead. I know one who is Merry for short. Also love Miriam and the one I know is a Miri.

Your names are all very pretty. Miranda I think is an excellent name and the Hart association is pretty positive. Clarissa possibly makes me think of one of the two fat ladies first, Samuel Richardson second.

DS would have been Josephine Aphra Mirabel had he been a she and I do very much like Mirabel but with Arabella, it's too samey. We had Hester on our list too.

Not massively keen on Winifred but did have Willa on our list for dc2.

I find Hester and especially Winifred very clunky and old. Arabella is so beautiful. I really like Clarissa or mirabel which I think are more feminine and beautiful names.

What about Morwenna? Or Frederica?

Clarissa Westw**d is lovely, and Miranda would be good too.

Winifred is too old lady for my tastes.... and she'd end up being Winnie which is hideous.

Morwen could be an alternative for Merewen?

How about Merryn? As in the Cornish saint?

Merewen is lovely, just go for it. It's not too 'out there' at all.
