Help in naming dd6 (dc10). I need opinions on some potential names .

we are expecting a girl in early July . she will be dd6 and dc10 .
Our shortlist include
Miranda lovely meaning but dh thinks it may be too associated with Miranda Hart
Clarissa
Winifred i love it for it's meaning but not sure if it's too clunky
Merewen love this especially it's meaning but is it too different
Cecilia
Hester

i really like the names Hester and Winifred but our surname is Westw**d .

so the question is could Hester Westw*d work or is the fact that it rhymes a real issue.?We've already discounted Esther for dd5 as we felt Esther Westw*d might sound to like a compass reference .

likewise is Winifred Westw**d OK or is the alliteration too much ?

dh has also suggested the name Mirabel but we have an Arabella .would Arabella and Mirabel be to samey for siblings ?

I also love the name Cecilia but we had major naming issues last time round dh initially agreeing to Cecilia but then changing his mind at the last minute and insisting on a name i really disliked but agreeing to cecily as a mn . In the end we changed dd5's name when she was a few months old to a compromise name .So i'm not sure whether i should avoid Cecilia as i don't want to open up any past hurts iyswim .

Your opinions would be welcome as i'm not sure if i'm over thinking some of these issues .

Love all your dd names. They've all been on my list, as have some of your ds names, one of which is my ds3 middle name. O I went for Genevieve for my dd. But I like Miranda from your list, goes nicely with the others.

MarvellousMechanicalMouseOrgan · 23/02/2014 10:53

Ronald, I love Decca. Is it a really name? Isn't it something to do with the Mitford sisters.

outtolunchagain · 23/02/2014 10:56

Jessica Mitford was known as Decca., but one the theme what about Decima or Dulcie

MargotLovedTom · 23/02/2014 10:57

What about Verity?

I think any child called Winnie would get the inevitable Winnie the Pooh nickname at school, probably morphing into Pooey Winnie etc.

Still18atheart · 23/02/2014 11:10

My suggestions are

Lowenna
Bronte
Bryony

dementedma · 23/02/2014 12:55

Genevieve?

DoItTooJulia · 23/02/2014 12:58

How about Kesia?

Loveday? Margot?

Mrsindecision · 23/02/2014 13:02

Julia
Juliana
Tatiana

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 23/02/2014 13:06

If you like Josephine you could use nn Sephy or Joss instead of Jo/Josie?

I also like Meredith and Verity which have been suggested here and seem to fit your naming style

yellowsnownoteatwillyou · 23/02/2014 13:07

That's a shame about and clarissa and Priscilla being ruled out, if she would carry it off. Never knew that about Persephone I had a lecturer called it, her nn was Percy which she really suited.

Annastasia?met one at a baby group the other day
Kassia?
Some from my list but ds came instead
Ramona
Ainsley
Thora I love this, dh does not Hmm
Xanthe
Zinnia

BelleOfTheBorstal · 23/02/2014 13:07

Was just about to come and suggest Margot!
And I third Merryn.
Or how about Margeruite?
Meredith was also a nice suggestion.

BelleOfTheBorstal · 23/02/2014 13:09

Thea goes well with the names you have already too.

CheckpointCharlie · 23/02/2014 13:11

Rowan? Robyn?

SadFreak · 23/02/2014 15:29

Simone
Clara
Elfreda
Selina/Selene
Gwenevere
Celeste
Cybelle
Seraphina
Evangeline
Millicent
Myrtle

oldbutnotpastit · 23/02/2014 16:00

so many of these names have been vetoed by dh

Genevieve too french in his opinion

Verity again vetoed as he knew one who was the opposite of truthful

Kezia nn Kizzy would be on my shortlist but dh can't get past the character in roots and won't consider it for that reason alone.

Juliet is out because it's dd4's mn

Used to love Anastasia until fifty shades of grey ruined it for me
Guinevere is definitely one to consider and dh likes it .
i do like Merryn but is it pronounced Mehr in or Merry en

like Evangeline but i'm sure it would get shortened to eve/evie

Loveday is also a lovely name but would be brave choice unfortunately i don't have the courage to use it and dh would never agree to it .it would certainly be an eyebrow raiser

Seraphina i like but worry it's going to be one ofv those names that rises quickly and then dates equally quickl
Millicent and Elfreda have also been mentioned but dismissed by dh
Clara and i did think we could have Clarissa nn Clara . for me
Clara alone is a Dr Who name which puts me of using it

Margot could also be a contender .dh likes it . He's not keen on Marguerite though .

I vote Meredith. I am also Envy of the 10DC! And you have lovely, lovely taste in girls names (boys too but half the names of your girls are fantasy names for me).

Bowlersarm · 23/02/2014 16:12

You need a Jemima to go with your girls

(Or Rumor, or Honor)

Although Anastasia is lovely. I think 50 shades will be consigned to history by the time your dd is a few years old.

dementedma · 23/02/2014 16:14

Rosanna
Georgiana
Hermione
Petrova
Saskia

HanSolo · 23/02/2014 16:22

Morven

Margot
Greta
Romily
Verily
Lorna

Decca and Vita are great too.

Congratulations, whatever you choose! Smile

YouGrateMyCheese · 23/02/2014 16:31

Have you considered Camilla? Maybe it's too Parker Bowles, but it's a lovely name. Or Camille.

largeginandtonic · 23/02/2014 16:35

Shorten Josephine to Posy. That's what Showy would say. Love it.

Aphra was on my list for the last baby. Ophelia and Dulcie are lovely too.

If I had another she would be Dorothy. It's an absolute favourite.

Names are tricky when you have so many!

NoArmaniNoPunani · 23/02/2014 16:38

Florentina

Fatphase · 23/02/2014 16:38

Wow - what lovely names ALL your children have. We really really struggled with DD2 (so just as well we stopped there)! We were racing into the registrars on the 21st day 10 minutes before closing time with our decision.

Here is my contribution of ideas.

Regina
Fenella
Rosalind
Constance/Connie
Esme
Theodora
Ottelie/Otteline
Felicity
Xenia
Asher
Wilhelmina
Savannah
Cassandra
Heather
Pandora
Francesca
Catriona

BeattieBow · 23/02/2014 17:07

if I had another baby girl, I think she'd be Theodora. Or Iris maybe.

BeattieBow · 23/02/2014 17:08

I also like Pandora, Penelope and Persephone.

Hero too.
