What do you think about name Lushia or Luschia ? (Latin origin and pronounced as looo-shya) so far, me and my partner seem to be the only ones that really like it...:) What do you think?

Honestly? Sounds like a urinary tract infection

Not very helpful.

lilyaldrin · 24/01/2014 16:38

I'm not keen to be honest. How about Lucia?

lastnightopenedmyeyes · 24/01/2014 16:39

I would expect it to be spelled Lucia for some reason. I don't dislike the sound of the name but I really dislike the 2 spellings. Can't say why, sorry, just not keen!

BettyBi0 · 24/01/2014 16:51

Sorry, I think it sounds like a made up name and it would be really annoying for your daughter to have to explain the pronunciation and spelling all the time

LaurieFairyCake · 24/01/2014 16:52

Sounds like a made up name

And made up names are universally shit

eurochick · 24/01/2014 16:53

It looks like the parents couldn't spell Lucia. Sorry!

softlysoftly · 24/01/2014 16:53

Not a fan of sound or pronunciation sorry

WildThong · 24/01/2014 16:53

Since you ask, it's horrible.

SirChenjin · 24/01/2014 16:55

Isn't the correct spelling Lucia? It sounds like a made up name, and not a great one at that. Sorry Smile

What SirChenjin said

HyvaPaiva · 24/01/2014 16:56

It looks like someone can't spell or say Lucia correctly.

Also, I don't like that these words make me think of the word 'lush'.

Don't like Lushia or Luschia at all, sorry.

hootloop · 24/01/2014 16:57

Of your two spellings I prefer the furst one without the ch, but I agree Lucia looks nicer and I would probably only be told once to pronounce it with a sh sound.

Doodledumdums · 24/01/2014 16:57

Sorry, but I'm not keen either. It sounds made up, and not in a pretty, imaginitive way!

If you like it though then you should go for it. DH and I went for a very old fashioned name for our DS and a lot of people have told me they don't like it, but we love it and that is what matters!

DitsyDonkey · 24/01/2014 16:58

Not keen, how about Laoise, it is Irish and is pronounced Lee Sha....similar but nicer!

alwaysneedaholiday · 24/01/2014 16:58

I'm sorry, it's horrible . Lucia is lovely though .

marmitecat · 24/01/2014 17:07

Would make me think "thick parents couldn't spell Lucia". Unless it's a legitimate spelling in some language I don't know. Sorry. Don't know why you can't use the proper spelling.

sunnyfriday · 24/01/2014 17:09

sorry but it is horrible imo

MrsOakenshield · 24/01/2014 17:14

I would think you didn't know how to spell Lucia.

sorry.

Bunbaker · 24/01/2014 17:15

Written down it looks like it should be spelled Lush-ia. I agree that if you want it pronounced the correct way you should spell it the correct way. Your daughter will be called lush or luscious otherwise.

HoratiaDrelincourt · 24/01/2014 17:17

What Hyva said - a misspelling of the classic and classy Lucia, or something to do with "lush". No no no.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 24/01/2014 17:21

It looks a bit contrived, sorry. Wouldn't people mispronounce it Lusher? I am used to seeing Lucia so this would jar.

I really like the sound of the name, but with that spelling (although that may be the 'correct' one, I don't know) - it just looks like Lucia spelt wrong.

Which is a shame, because the only Lucia I know pronounces her name Loo-chi-a which isn't the name you wanted.

Rhubarbgarden · 24/01/2014 18:18

I rather like it. I reminds me of Fuchsia, which I also like.
