I love it and wondered what others thought?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LightsPlease · 19/12/2013 17:22

Please dont.

MrsLouisTheroux · 19/12/2013 17:23

Oh :(
Anyone out there like it?

callamia · 19/12/2013 17:25

It's cute.
Would you give a full name like Elizabeth or Bridget?

mum2jakie · 19/12/2013 17:27

No to Betty. Betsy is much softer sounding if you'd consider that?

ThursdayLast · 19/12/2013 17:27

Betty is COOL

MrsLouisTheroux · 19/12/2013 17:27

It's not for my baby but I told my friend I'd get opinions on here as she loves it and her DH doesn't. She loves it on its own. I do too!!

Grin @ Betty is COOL !!

I love it. Traditional but not fussy and I can see that once it is given to a child it will really "become" them

Oh I quite like it. I'd probably use Elizabeth as her full name just in case she needs to have a lot of gravitas when she's older Smile

Sundaedelight · 19/12/2013 17:30

I LOVE Betty! It's the best name ever!

Could be Elizabeth or Bettina if you want to use it as a nn. But I think is cool/strong enough to stand alone.

Bowlersarm · 19/12/2013 17:30

No, sorry.

I just read a Lisa Jewell book where the pretty heroine is called Betty. I tried to like it and think of a glamorous girl but it was impossible. I felt it was just a beautiful girl who got landed with a really bad, dowdy name.

HyvaPaiva · 19/12/2013 17:32

I like it as a nickname for Elizabeth but not standalone.

Phaush · 19/12/2013 17:33

There were two Betty's at DDs toddler group. I love it. I'd give baby a longer version (Elizabeth I suppose) so that she can do what she likes with her name when she's older - she could be Betty, Betsy, Beth, Liz, Lizzie if she prefers.

Willabywallaby · 19/12/2013 17:33

I like it but give Elizabeth as the full name.

I almost got put off when I had a drug using pt with the name, but still like it.

MrsH29 · 19/12/2013 17:33

My mum's name is Betty so I'm a bit biased. I like it, put prefer Betsy as a variant.

BunnyLebowski · 19/12/2013 17:35

LOVE IT!!

It is definitely cool. I called the bloody puppy Betty a few months ago not expecting to get knocked up but now I am and can't use it now Sad .

Betsy is lovely too but I just couldn't have my child share a name with Denise Van Outen's loin fruit. No way.

ChristmasStrumpet · 19/12/2013 17:36

Its lovely. DD 15 best friend is called Betty. No nasty connotations I am aware of.

MrsLouisTheroux · 19/12/2013 17:37

Bunny Change the puppy's name!! Grin

YoMamma · 19/12/2013 17:42

I LOVE it as a nn for Elizabeth. I personally wouldn't use it as a stand alone name.

bramblethecow · 19/12/2013 17:42

Love it! A strong and cool name. Definitely not Betsy though, too "cute" somehow

NameoftheRose · 19/12/2013 17:43

Bunny, change the puppy's name to something else short and two syllables. Puppy won't know any better.

I wanted to call my dogs Hector and Marlowe. OH wanted Oscar and Milo. He won, but I discovered they'd answer to Hector and Marlowe anyway Grin.
They're not that bright. At least mine aren't.

Of course you might have a boy!

BunnyLebowski · 19/12/2013 17:44

I don't want a boy!! I really want another DD!

MN has advised me before to change the dog's name - I am now giving it serious consideration!

NameoftheRose · 19/12/2013 17:55

Just don't change it to Lettie, say, or Betsy.

That could get really confusing in the future.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 19/12/2013 17:58

Very, very popular around here. I'd use it as a nn for Elizabeth, not on its own, though. Prefer Eliza not that you asked Wink
