Stuart is a timeless name. It's never been fashionable so is never unfashionable. I have only met a very few Stuarts. I like it.

(I'm not referring to Scotland, where I realise it's always been a much more popular name.)

I was going to say 'whats wrong with stuart... but the only one I really know is an IT manager, must be 'middle aged' with a beard as well as a moustache. Oh dear.

Someone mentioned Martin - the one I know best was named in tribute to Martin Luther King (born late 50s). There are some names which if you've got a reason like that deserve to be perpetuated.

DH once worked in a large company which appeared to have a HR policy that at least 70% of staff must be called David. It really did become a non-name, they had no choice but to use surnames.

There are two Stuarts in our primary school, aged 10 and 8. Plus I have a 28 year old cousin Stuart. But I'm in Scotland, where it's more popular.

I know of a Paul, he's 6 and it suits him. Know of a Stuart too. Not the names I'd pick but they're not offensive.

I like Paul and David and even Denis. I know several small Kevins. I think Gary may be one of those names that has a surprising comeback in store for it.

I will hold my hand up to liking Terry/Terence, purely cos of Spike Milligan. I can see it coming back. It's really not that different to Harry, Ollie and all those if you think about it.

I don't know any Stuarts so I have no moustache reference points. I also know a really awful Alan.
