STUART!

Can you imagine? He didn't speak to me for a few hours after I burst out laughing in his face and asked, incredulously: "what man, in this day in age, would call their son Stuart?"

You'd be Stewie Griffin's mum!

IHeartKingThistle · 10/09/2013 20:11

I've taught more Stuarts than Stephens.

Nandocushion · 10/09/2013 20:12

What on earth is wrong with Stuart?

nicename · 10/09/2013 20:14

What's wrong with Stewart/Stuart? Its not so common these days but I was at school with a few (in Scotland).

IsleOfRight · 10/09/2013 20:15

I know a baby Ian and a baby Brian

MyBoysAreFab · 10/09/2013 20:15

I know a teenage Stuart - we are in Scotland too. I quite like it.
I also know an adult Colin who gets called Col which sounds quite cool.

TallulahBetty · 10/09/2013 20:16

I met a little baby Ray the other day. I like it Grin

drinkyourmilk · 10/09/2013 20:17

Stuart I like.
Lotus? (never going to happen dear) shudder

LookingForwardToSalmon · 10/09/2013 20:17

I like Alfred Grin

NationMcKinley · 10/09/2013 20:19

I know a toddler called Bob. Not Robert. Not Bobby. Just Bob.

My brother wanted to call his daughter Rita. Happily they chose something very slightly better Grin

In one of the foundation classes at my school there is a Kenneth and a Roger.

DerbyNottsLeicsNightNanny · 10/09/2013 20:25

My dh is called Stuart, I'm pg with dc2 and its been one of his suggestions, along with reggie (dh's dad is called reg). I have therefore stopped discussing names with dh. Grin

Lottiedoubtie · 10/09/2013 20:37

Nothing wrong with Stuart is there? Perfectly reasonable name.

I know one, in his 20s, nice bloke.

OvO · 10/09/2013 20:44

Stewart is one of my DS3's middle names! After the House of Stuart/Stewart. We're Scottish as if it wasn't obvious. Grin

Frikadellen · 10/09/2013 22:17

I like Stuart all the Stuarts Ive known have been lovely blokes.

Also love Colin again because the ones I know have been truly lovely

mathanxiety · 10/09/2013 23:52

Stuart is an excellent name for a moustache.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 11/09/2013 09:12

Stuart is a goid sound historical name. wouldn't use it personally
DP is always s bit miffed that Id not use his name. He is called Keith! The DCs call him Ken or Kenny!
definitely out!

ilovemulberry · 11/09/2013 09:19

Dennis is a cute name !!

ZenGardener · 11/09/2013 09:19

I don't think Stuart is that bad but I'm Scottish as well. My husband suggested Ko as a name. Hmm

SelectAUserName · 11/09/2013 10:30

I have to explode the "all Alans are nice" myth. I worked with an Alan who was an utter sleazy letch

Stuart is a perfectly nice name but I can't imagine it on a very small child...it feels like Stuart should spring from the womb fully-formed around about age 13/14.

Littlecherublegs · 11/09/2013 11:20

There are definitely worse names then Stuart, I quite like it (though admit I wouldn't actually use it!)

Madamecastafiore · 11/09/2013 11:21

Goodness it's like David to me - a non name really.

Not classically lovely but not exciting a bit meh!!

Madamecastafiore · 11/09/2013 11:23

Mind you DH has mentioned Cosmo and Bruno for the new one so maybe Stuart would be a good suggestion to balance those.

Dramamama · 11/09/2013 11:33

My df has just called her little boy Garry. Baby Garry. I thought she was joking when she told me! Blush
