Help need a classic, not dull or not too popular girls name for DD2

That's it really.

Found out we are having a 2nd girl yesterday. Our 1st DD is Anna Isabelle, both classic not too popular and family related names.

However really struggling with DD2 name. Like Rose/Rosa and Sophia but too popular. (I had a popular name in the 70s and hated being known with my surname). DH has suggested Doris (which is NOT happening!!!).

Any ideas oh wise MNnetters????

Thanks

I would agree with the poster who said Isabelle is a well known name.

What about Rowena
Vivienne
Nicola
Eloise/a

Wow love MN! Some great ideas here to get DH away from Doris!!!

Some of the names mentioned really like but beaten to them by family and friend (due to years of infertility, we are one of the last of our family and friends to be having children). Love the fact that a few posters have even mentioned my name as a classic (!)

Don't mind if the middle name is popular (hence we chose Isabelle for DD1 as love the name and it's got a family connection). However, keen for DD2 to have a first name that's not one of several in her class.

Keep them coming and thank you all sooo much for ideas so far - will let you know what we decide..

Emily
Victoria
Harriet
Catherine
Katy/Kate (you could use as a shortening for Catherine but I prefer it on it's own)
Lucy
Elizabeth (although it is the same as Isabelle pretty much but doesn't really matter as your DD only has Isabelle as a middle name)
Charlotte (I love this but I may be biased as I have one, known as Lottie, I also have an Isabel in fact!)
Mary
Rosa
Gabriella

Anna was on my shortlist!

I wanted the same things as you from girls names so here are a few suggestions:

Kate (although list was drawn up born before Kate Middleton became a princess...! don't know how popular the name is now)

Grace

Emma

Eliza

Susannah

You made a great choice for DD1 - I'm sure you'll find the perfect name for DD2!

My criteria are exactly as yours for my DD due in May. We have Elizabeth, Rose, Juliet, Josephine and now possibly Alice on our list. Also Margaret.

I am leaning towards Elizabeth at the moment.

Anna is lovely and this would be on my list except my DH's colleague's wife is due one month before me and they are having a girl and are calling it Anna after her mother.

Agree Sophia is very popular. Rose is very very very popular as a middle name but not so much as a first name. However, I too have concerns it might be too popular and may fall into the bucket of Lilys, Rubys etc. Hence I am leaning away from it towards Elizabeth. Until I saw a thread on Alice today and suddenly thought perhaps Alice would be good.

Our middle name is going to be Catherine which is also a good option for a first na,e.

All Annas are traffic-stoppingly beautiful and frighteningly intelligent.
Fact.
That is why I named my DD Anna, and she is living up to her name.

I don't know of a single Rosa or Sophia so I wouldn't rule those out because of popularity. Especially like Rosa or Rosalie with Rosa for nn

Helen is a nice classic name that doesn't seem to be used much these days. I also like Helena.

Ladyflip I knew that I should have been an Anna - I so live up to that Wink.

Personally I wouldn't have Rose/Rosa as when you say their names together it will sound like "Rosanna" (though I guess Anna would come first, still, it would bug me!). I like:

Charlotte
Harriet
Lindsay
Hayley
Caitlyn
Melanie

Felicity, Dorothy and Connie are three names I absolutely loved and kept in my "One day" list. I loved the idea of a little freckly girl called Dotty!

What about Faith?

Sophie is the most popular name I have come across in DDs age group (she's 2) along with Ava/Evie etc, Amelia, Ruby and Freya. But I wouldn't get too het up about popularity. I personally think that the range of names used these days compared to when we were young (I am early 30s) is far wider, so that outside the top 5, "popular" names just aren't that common.

There's a whole thread at the mo about DDs name (Matilda) with people saying its "overused".... But in fact it's number 47 and we've not net more than 2 in 2 cities over 2 years. Plus I LOVE her name! Incidentally, I have met 4 Elizabeths.....!

So it's all a bit random and I would just pick what you love! I love Rose by the way (more than Rosa).... Rose is on my ridiculously early names list (am 5 weeks preg with DC2... But of a surprise!!!)

Lady flip- love your definition of Anna, obviously suits our DD1 perfectly!

Thanks for suggestions, love Elizabeth but can't have it as have niece already called this.

DH has just said randomly he likes Mary. Not sure, classic for sure but abit dull? Could be Mary Louise (family name 2nd). Obviously rules out Rose (due to ship).....

This is really hard!!! How does anyone ever choose?
