Is it fun or do all the bad Nancys ruin it? Beth Orton's daughter is called Nancy apparently.

I like it. Swallows and Amazons, and a lovely relative spring to mind.

Bajas · 24/09/2012 22:00

Makes me think of Oliver Twist. Sorry!

Purplehonesty · 24/09/2012 22:01

Like it. Love the old names coming back, I have a molly.

BeatTheClock · 24/09/2012 22:04

I quite like it but I do associate it with the one I know who does like to be the centre of attention.

tiredteddy · 24/09/2012 22:06

Lovely!

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 24/09/2012 22:07

Lots of Nansi's here in Wales, I like it a lot

VoterColonelSebastianDoyle · 24/09/2012 22:07

Sorry if anyones dd is called Nancy but it reminds me of a prostitutes name Blush

EverybodysCryEyed · 24/09/2012 22:17

Oliver Twist

And wasn't the dead girlfriend of the Sex Pistol Nancy?

I always feel it's a tragic name

Fairyloo · 24/09/2012 22:19

Love it, classic underused

Oliver Twist nancy is lovely character

Haveaheart · 24/09/2012 22:26

Lovely name

LizzieVerekerGold · 24/09/2012 22:27

Teach 3 Nancys aged from 11 to 16. All lovely girls, which makes me like the name even more.

YouMayLogOut · 24/09/2012 22:27

It's a bit flouncy and frilly.

Nivet · 24/09/2012 22:31

It was on my list for DD but wasn't great with our surname. I LOVE it.

winkle2 · 24/09/2012 22:57

Love it. It reminds me of Nancy Drew.

HolyAutumnGoldBatman · 24/09/2012 22:58

I like it, but it's getting popular and that always puts me off.

DiscoDomina · 25/09/2012 10:55

Love it, love it, love it! My Step DD is a Nancy and brings her own unique charm to the name that only makes me think of her when i hear the name certainly not any negative connotations.

MadBusLady · 25/09/2012 11:03

I am slightly coming round to it BUT won't you inevitably get Nan or Nance as nicknames? Both pretty awful.

elizaregina · 25/09/2012 13:18

nancy astor - first woman mp - nancy sinatra - love the name...

Clawdy · 25/09/2012 20:24

Frank Sinatra's lovely song..."Nancy With The Laughing Face".

SilkStalkings · 25/09/2012 20:35

I love it. When we were choosing a girl's name for DS2 (before we saw the winkieWink), all our names seemed (honestly by chance) to have heroin connotations:
Nancy (Spungen)
Marianne (Faithfull)
Nico (Velvet Underground)
His actual boy's name happens to be that of a famous addict too.

delilah88 · 25/09/2012 20:36

Very funny silk!

Love it and would've had it for DD but felt it was getting popular. Also it's a pet name for Anne which put me off a bit but I couldn't explain why!!

Badgerina · 25/09/2012 21:11

Looks like I'm swimming against a tide here, but I don't like it.

Makes me think of awful, homophobic insults Sad

It's not that I think anyone would tease her for it, but that's just the association I have, and it puts me off the name - sorry Sad

Anthea1001 · 25/09/2012 21:22

I love it and I don't think it would be shortened necessarily to the awful nan or nance, no one has ever shortened my name: Anthea, to the expected 'Ann' or 'Thea' ...although I think i would have liked Thea.

vamosbebe · 25/09/2012 21:26

It's my DM's name, she bloody hates it :(
