Paloma, Ivy or Ursula

Which do you like best?

100% Paloma, then Ivy but only as a mediocre second and Ursula is just beyond awful!

FerrisBueller1972 · 25/08/2012 13:56

Paloma - love it Smile

lljkk · 25/08/2012 13:56

Paloma.

cansu · 25/08/2012 13:56

Ivy but tbh don't really like any very much.

OneOfMyTurnsComingOn · 25/08/2012 13:57

Paloma.

Geordieminx · 25/08/2012 13:57

Paloma.

Never ursula. She's the sea witch out if the little mermaid

northernmonkey · 25/08/2012 13:57

Ivy, although Paloma is a close second

GruffVoiceDownTheChimney · 25/08/2012 13:58

Ivy

persephoneplum · 25/08/2012 14:45

Thanks, please be gentle about the name Ursula - it's a much-loved name in this household and is in my top three. Sea witch comments are not helpful - she doesn't affect our love of the name at all.

I would say in order of preference
Paloma
Ursula
Ivy

I am guessing that you like more unusual names and Ivy I think is becoming more and more popular. I like Paloma a lot.... But, will people shorten it to Pal or Pally? I know an Ursula and she is lovely although we often shorten it to Ursy - I love the name Ursula Smile

picnicbasketcase · 25/08/2012 15:11

I'm not overly keen on any of them tbh, but Ursula is my favourite out of the three.

PepperOnMyPaprikash · 25/08/2012 15:11

Ursula the best by far
Ivy is next
Don't like Paloma at all, sorry

JaquelineHyde · 25/08/2012 15:14

I like all three but prefer either Paloma or Ursula.

I would be tempted to go with Ursula as Paloma is going to become quite popular because of the singer Paloma Faith.

jaffacake2 · 25/08/2012 15:16

Paloma is pretty does it have a meaning ?

pixiestix · 25/08/2012 15:19

Without knowing anything about you or why you like the names, my personal choice would be -

Ursula
Ivy
Paloma

Ursula reminds me of Ursula Brangwen, not the sea witch!

EdithWeston · 25/08/2012 15:31

I would associate Brangwen with Ursula too (and had never heard of a witch), though it's not a name I'd go for. Ivy to me screams "middle age machinist and MIL from hell".

Paloma is lovely.

Heavensmells · 25/08/2012 15:39

Love Paloma, it's gorgeous.

nailak · 25/08/2012 15:55

ursula reminds me of wizard of earthsea

Wildwaterfalls · 25/08/2012 16:11

Ivy

What about Ursula as her middle name?

HecateHarshPants · 25/08/2012 16:15

Hmm I don't know why I thought paloma was ham. Where did that come from? But as soon as I read it, I thought "ham" Hmm Odd.

I don't really like any of them, tbh. But if I had to pick one, I'd pick Ursula.

fanjodisfunction · 25/08/2012 16:18

Ivy

javotte · 25/08/2012 16:43

Paloma means "dove" in Spanish, but also "pigeon" (sorry...).
I prefer Ivy.

MolatovBomb · 25/08/2012 16:47

Ivy.

Not keen on Paloma and really dislike Ursula.

HiHowAreYou · 25/08/2012 17:06

Love Ursula, Paloma is nice too and could grow on me to love status.

I don't really like Ivy. Because I think it's an unpleasant plant, choking.

mathanxiety · 25/08/2012 17:11

Ursula
Paloma

Ivy.
