Ivy - tres chic.

ellangirl · 25/08/2012 20:11

Ursula for me. Perhaps Sula for short? (soo-la)
Ivy
Paloma

Not keen on any tbh, but ranking:
Ivy
Ursula
Paloma

TidyDancer · 25/08/2012 20:14

Paloma is lovely, and I would consider it for hypothetical DC3 but I don't think DP would go for it.

Sorry, but IMO Ivy is best left in the past and Ursula is clunky and not at all nice.

lalaloopylou · 25/08/2012 20:15

Ivy
Ursula

Not fussed on Paloma

The only one I like tbh is ivy,

Nightwish · 25/08/2012 20:23

Ivy.

hiviolet · 25/08/2012 20:26

Ivy.

HotHotNot · 25/08/2012 20:31

Ursula. Lovely doctor who stitched up my DS. Do kids still watch The Little Mermaid ? If so they will quickly move on to something else.

Paloma has a nice sound.

They both sound quite posh if that is a factor, but give me quite different images, so which one "looks" more like your family/ the baby?

floranora · 25/08/2012 20:32

sea witch comments may not be helpful - but they all that little Ursula will hear!

manicinsomniac · 25/08/2012 21:53

I like Ivy.

Really don't like Paloma or Ursula.

ColourMeWithChaos · 25/08/2012 21:55

Paloma is lovely.

MarkStretch · 25/08/2012 21:57

Ivy! I have an 8 month old Ivy Grin

Sossiges · 25/08/2012 21:58

Paloma

Janet12 · 25/08/2012 22:00

Paloma

LaVitaBellissima · 25/08/2012 22:05

I love Paloma and Ivy although I do think both are getting more popular, Paloma is very popular in Australia.

I know an Ursula, we call her Ula. To me I always think bear which is Orso in Italian and has a similar sound Confused

cakeismysaviour · 25/08/2012 22:08

Ivy

exoticfruits · 25/08/2012 22:18

I don't like any. Ivy is the worst at poison Ivy or clinging Ivy. Ursula is best if pushed.

SandStorm · 25/08/2012 22:23

I was going to say Ivy, Paloma, Ursula but now I've thought about it I think Ursula has the edge over Paloma slightly but Ivy is still on top.

persephoneplum · 26/08/2012 01:45

floranora - I disagree. Most adults have more manners than to harp on to people about their name. I have a Felix and Felix the Cat has been mentioned perhaps twice in his eight years.

I know an Uma who very much owns her name - I do not give Uma Thurman a second thought when I'm around her.

People end up owning the names they are given. The seawitch, from some irrelevant, vapid movie from 25 years ago is not a reason not to choose a name we love. It has an elegant history that goes back centuries. People are pretty silly if they can't get their noses past popular culture from the 80s.

I do wonder why people ask for opinions if they are going to be offended when they get them....

milkteef · 26/08/2012 01:53

Paloma.

persephoneplum · 26/08/2012 01:57

I didn't ask for opinions on the name Ursula... READ my original post - state the name you like best. Derrrr.

So I can't come onto a naming board now if I don't want to have my names trashed? Get real and get a heart.

Pointing out that it's the name of the sea witch is hardly trashing...it's just something that might be useful for you to know. And if you know which one you like best why on earth ask a ton of strangers?
