Dammit. Baby Cakes' name has gone up 10 places and is in the top 30. And I haven't met a single other boy with his name. I'm going to now.

I remember about 7 years ago, a work colleague calling her daughter Amelia, and thinking what a pretty unusual name. I'd never have expected it to become no. 1 name.

My three month old nephew is called Harry. I knew it was popular, but didn't expect it to be no. 1.

RubyFakeNails · 13/08/2012 12:10

Also does anyone else much prefer reading the bottom names, there are 3 children called:

Betsy-Bo
Bowe
Bunny
Carman
Chavy (wtf?!)
Daisy-Boo
Daisymay
Dane
Darby
Gypsie
Katelan
KC
Ladan
Laken
Macey-may/maci-mai/maisey-mae and other variations
Maddison Leigh (obviously not in London)
Nevaeha
Payson
Rubyrose
Scarlotte
Starlett
Trilby

and so many more that I'm having to shout out to colleagues. The 3s do feature some mn favourites or at least ones I think mn likes Clemency, Persephone, Eponine and Giulietta.

rachel234 · 13/08/2012 12:11

17 boys named my ds's name last year, up from 11 the previous year.

Thanks for the link!

rachel234 · 13/08/2012 12:14

Anybody know whether these names are only FIRST names of could they be middle names too?

GoingforGoingforGOLD · 13/08/2012 12:14

There were three girls called Bunny Shock

rachel234 · 13/08/2012 12:15

Bunny isn't all that different to the other trendy cutesy names like Poppy or Kitty imo.

butisthismyname · 13/08/2012 12:17

I have one girl at 22 (we were laughed at naming her this 20-odd years ago....), one girl at 46, and ds is at 12. Good names I think Grin

RubyFakeNails · 13/08/2012 12:19

5madthings There were 36 Merryns

RubyFakeNails · 13/08/2012 12:20

4 girls called PASSION thats worse than the 3 called Chavy

rachel234 · 13/08/2012 12:22

"I have one girl at 22 (we were laughed at naming her this 20-odd years ago....)"

Do you mean 22 girls with that name or position 22 (with lots of girls named that name)?

KosherBacon · 13/08/2012 12:31

OK,am I being thick? Can somebody post a link to the full data and not the top 100?

SlightlySuperiorPeasant · 13/08/2012 12:32

How do you search the data to find a specific name?

I see a variation of our chosen name for DD is climbing, bah. Top 80 this year. Chosen middle name has just jumped into the top 50. Noooo! I know at least one baby per top 10 name.

DS's name isn't on there at all. I'm not expecting that to change ever, bar the random creation of some superstar celebrity or other.

slightly - you can download the excel file from here and look at table 6 for the full list of names.

melissa - think you'll need to go to the media requests section?

Turquoisecat · 13/08/2012 12:40

Arses, getting my questions/answers mixed up!! Serves me right for trying to eat lunch, be helpful and gawp at the stats at the same time!!

kosher - see my above reply to slightly!!

slightly - I've just been doing a find on the table six. I;m on a mac, so it;s the apple and f buttons. Presumably on a PC it's CTRL+Alt+F?

OneLittleToddlingTerror · 13/08/2012 12:41

Thanks Turquoisecat

520 Darcy baby girls? (Adding to the 179 Beau up thread)

Am I think only one to associate Darcy to Mr Darcy and therefore a boy's name?

accidentalchickenkeeper · 13/08/2012 12:43

My DS just scraped the top 100. He was born in 2008 and was about 80/100 then. The major upside of this as I have found now I'm labelling his new school clothes is I only have to write his first name. He is the only John in the school Grin

It's quite an old fashioned name and certainly didn't suit him as a baby but he's grown into it now and I can't imagine him being called anything else

PuffPants · 13/08/2012 12:45

Why can I only see top 10? Is there a separate link for top 100?

pinkgirlythoughts · 13/08/2012 12:45

Ds has dropped slightly, although his nickname has risen a bit. The other two names that we considered for him have both risen, one of them quite considerably. I'm glad we went for the one we did :)

butisthismyname · 13/08/2012 12:52

Oh, haha - the name is at 22, and wierdly she is 22 too (outed totally now...)

butisthismyname · 13/08/2012 12:53

Oh no - it's 23..

Astr0naut · 13/08/2012 12:55

Dd's middle name is top. But we chose it because we were looking for female icons and sadly, couldn't think of that many. If she was a boy, middle name would be literary hellraiser. Her first name is nowhere to be seen.
