Still undecided how I feel about this name, DH has put it as one of his favs. What sort of nicknames might she end up with?
Thanks everyone.

I like it and don't know any

I think it's a really strong name

oreocrumbs · 04/07/2012 20:19

I like it, I know one Imogen, from a baby group.

I think Immy or Jenny might be nick names.

derekthehamster · 04/07/2012 20:20

I know 3, generally nn Immy

derekthehamster · 04/07/2012 20:21

I used to love it more than I do now, don't know why, maybe because I know some now!

silverfrog · 04/07/2012 20:21

Love it.

Classic, traditional, not overused (although there is usually one or two around within a couple of years of any given age, iyswim)

Nicknames could be:

Imo
Immy
Ginny

I have also known an Imogen who was called Midge.

Fab name.

CharltonHairstyle · 04/07/2012 20:21

Good name Smile

Abcinthia · 04/07/2012 20:23

My DD is called Imogen.

Nicknames we call her include: Immy, Imo, Jen, Jenny, Imhotep and Immy Wimmy Do Dah Grin

nextphase · 04/07/2012 20:25

I know a 3 yr old, a 30 yr old and a 40 year old Imogen
Immie, Minnie and Imo.
I like it.

PoppyWearer · 04/07/2012 20:25

Love it, was our second choice for DC1.

Used to be one in her nursery class, but haven't come across any others.

TodaysAGoodDay · 04/07/2012 20:26

I knew one at school. She pronounced it weirdly, with a hard 'g', so I-mow-gen. Not image-in.

Tweetinat · 04/07/2012 20:28

My 17yo sister is called Imogen, although we all call her Immi. Lovely name :)

SardineQueen · 04/07/2012 20:36

Great name Smile

mrstowers · 04/07/2012 20:48

I used to love the name but it now just reminds me of Imogen Thomas (Big Brother, Ryan Giggs etc).

CleoSmackYa · 04/07/2012 20:50

Love it! I have one Grin Her nicknames are Ims, Imo, Immy, Imotep, Immodium and the I.Mogen.

ithaka · 04/07/2012 20:51

I have an Imogen and she is called Idge/Idgie/Squidge/Squidgie etc. (may have outed myself there)

She is named after Idgie Threadgood in Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe - a strong, non-traditional role model.

My daughter is mad and wild, Idgie really suits her.

Catsmamma · 04/07/2012 20:54

it was always my fave girl's name, but a year or so before dd was born it was everywhere, so we didn't use it!

TheMightyMojoceratops · 04/07/2012 20:59

Reminds me of curmudgeon, have never liked it. I know one, nicknamed Smudge.

SandStorm · 04/07/2012 21:03

I really like it as a name. It'll be shortened to Imo or Immy. However, I do know quite a lot of them as it's a very popular name round here.

throwinshapes · 04/07/2012 21:04

I don't know one but I like the nn's it throws up.
I now like it Smile

I don't really like Imogen. It sounds harsh and unfeminine to my ears. Also doesn't travel well into other (European) languages.

CharlieBoo · 04/07/2012 21:19

I think of Imogen Thomas too, not keen tbh

CharlotteLucas · 04/07/2012 21:20

It's a strong, elegant name. Don't know any.

shoobidoo · 04/07/2012 21:23

I'm not keen, sorry. There are far nicer, more feminine names imo.

RaahhFerrerismynewcrush · 04/07/2012 21:29

Love it- is dd2's middle name.

Idgie is such a fab nick name (love Fried Green Tomatoes)
