Does the name Alice bore you to tears?

Yes, we're still not sorted Blush. Time is marching on, I'm 39+4 now and DH is no nearer a decision.

I've abandoned my thoughts on not choosing something in the top 50 (due to being pissed off with my own super popular name) and was debating Alice. But is it really dull?

I think it's lovely - classic but not too over-used. I like the spelling Alys too.

DedalusDigglesPocketWatch · 31/12/2011 11:40

I love it! And if it wasn't the name of my horse I would have it for my DD! :o

KenDoddsDadsDog · 31/12/2011 11:42

I love it too . Only know one Alice.

Actually, that OP sounds really rude Blush Apologies to any parents of Alices.

I just always dismissed it as too popular and mainstream but actually it's got quite a nice sound.

No, I quite like Alice. Apart from the Roy Chubby Brown song, there's nothing wrong with it!

BehindLockNumberNine · 31/12/2011 11:59

No, I absolutely LOVE the name Alice. It is beautiful, timeless and has a lovely sound to it. I know two Alices and they are both lovely girls.

spottyscarf · 31/12/2011 12:02

I think it's lovely, a classic. And what girl wouldn't want to share their name with the character in such a fab book!

I also don't know any baby/toddler Alices at all.

I like it but know several tearaway teens with this name (work with young people). It must have been popular 15 or so years ago.

melliebobs · 31/12/2011 12:33

my 15 month niece is called Alice. Lovely name :-)

LaFilleSurLePont · 31/12/2011 12:36

It's lovely. Classic, strong, works well at any age and not at all dull.

taurean · 31/12/2011 12:41

I have a 3yo Alice and am constantly complimented on her name. I was worried it was becoming too popular but we only know one other.

pickledparsnip · 31/12/2011 12:54

My sister is called Alice. I've only met one other. I think it's beautiful!

startail · 31/12/2011 12:57

No, it's pretty. Not over used and the one I know is lovely.

Tikkabillajive · 31/12/2011 12:59

Timeless, classic and beautiful. Plus all of the Alices I know (a few, of varying ages/generations) are really cool, feisty characters. I love this name.

TheSpreadingChestnutTree · 31/12/2011 13:01

It's a lovely name. Not boring at all.

flamegirl77 · 31/12/2011 13:17

By the time a baby Alice is old enough to know about Roy Fecking Brown he will be about as relevant as George Formby. Less so!

flopsy1974 · 31/12/2011 13:29

Alice is my 18 month old dd's middle name. A lovely timeless classic. There are some around but not overly popular Smile

BlastOff · 31/12/2011 13:32

Absolutely love it. Would have been ds2's middle name if he'd been a girl, but if I had a dd now I might choose it as a first name.

breathedeeply · 31/12/2011 13:38

My 7 year old is called Alice and she's the only one in her large primary school. We're pleased with the name - its timeless and not over-popular.

Wigeon · 31/12/2011 14:39

I like it too. DNiece is Alice Smile.
