Yes, we're still not sorted Blush. Time is marching on, I'm 39+4 now and DH is no nearer a decision.

I've abandoned my thoughts on not choosing something in the top 50 (due to being pissed off with my own super popular name) and was debating Alice. But is it really dull?

Alice is a beautiful name. Would be a dead cert for a DD2 if estranged SIL hadn't already used it. Mind you, if we're never speaking again anyway... Xmas Wink

molly3478 · 31/12/2011 15:20

No it just reminds me of alice who the fuck is alice by chubby brown. Ayone called alice has had that sung to them at some point and its the first thing I think of when I think of alice

oikopolis · 31/12/2011 15:56

LOVE Alice. The children's literature connection is so cool for a little girl too. I would use it in a heartbeat, no question.

I also like the older/Frenchier spelling of Alix.

usualsuspect · 31/12/2011 15:57

I think its a lovely name

BalloonSlayer · 31/12/2011 15:59

Love it.

DS2 would have been Alice, but he was a boy.

Never heard of that song Shock

3rdnparty · 31/12/2011 15:59

Love Alice was our top girls name, not one in DS school so not common round here....

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 31/12/2011 15:59

I think it's lovely - it is one of my dds' middle names.

Ihatepeas · 31/12/2011 20:44

gorgeous!

mycatsaysach · 31/12/2011 20:46

Smile biased but it is a fab name

Apart from Molly then that's pretty positive! :) Thanks.

DD is Alice. She's 3. Only one at nursery. Her great-gran is also Alice.
Timeless!

Oakmaiden · 31/12/2011 21:12

I love the name Alice. I know one Alice who is in her early twenties, and is a VERY feisty no nonsense character, and 2 children called Alys (but I am in Wales).

zgaze · 31/12/2011 21:19

I have a 12-day-old Alys :) Have had no negative reactions to the name (although not sure anyone I know would be brave enough to say to me they didn't like it when I'm so freshly postnatal!)

MrsJangleBalls · 31/12/2011 21:21

Having just sat through a school production of Alice in Wonderland and absolutely marvelled at the brilliant little girls who played Alice with their heartfelt singing and beautiful acting, I love the name Alice. Xmas Smile

I have an Alice :-), she's lovely.

rhetorician · 31/12/2011 23:24

I like it - it's a very old, very English name, and all the better for it

allagory · 31/12/2011 23:32

Actually I think it's German. My great aunt (who was German) was an Alice. But most people called her Lisa.

Still a beautiful name, though

rhetorician · 31/12/2011 23:39

is it? there's an Alys in Chaucer....

rhetorician · 31/12/2011 23:39

not that it matters, of course :)

SlinkingOutsideInSocks · 01/01/2012 01:21

OK, this is slightly odd, I admit - I find it a boring name for a blonde girl, but unutterably chic for a brunette.

SantasNutellaFairy · 01/01/2012 01:39

Alice is a very nice name. Classic, not overused, but most people know the standard spelling of it.

Alicious · 01/01/2012 01:45

I am one and I love my name-was a teenager during the 'Who the fuck is Alice' period and it sucked, but it is so over now! Glad to see that so many people love the name too! :)

RosemaryandThyme · 01/01/2012 01:45

I'm with the hair-colouring view - red-head Alice would just be wrong, brunette though, really nice.

MumblingFanjoChops · 01/01/2012 01:59

It's a beautiful name, blonde, redhead or brunette. It would suit a dainty little girl or a tomboy teen!! :)
