I prefer Kate. Out of the 2.

mmmitsdelicious · 23/02/2011 08:23

Both lovely.
I especially like Martha Smile

weepootle · 23/02/2011 08:24

I really love both of them and they were both at the top of my shortlist for dd2.

Of the 2, Martha is my favourite but dh didn't like. Kate was his favourite.

tummytickler · 23/02/2011 08:26

I prefer Kate

specialsmasher · 23/02/2011 08:28

2-2 so far!

I Like both, but think Martha is more unusual and it seems that Kate is becoming quite popular at the moment. Having said that, you seem to really like Kate best!!!

laosvher · 23/02/2011 08:31

I prefer Kate
Flip a coin, if you feel disappointed with the name you get then you know you want the other name :)

specialsmasher · 23/02/2011 08:33

Good points you two both! Thanks for ongoing help growing!

Kate.... Martha.....Kate..... Martha.....

I actually can't wait for this to be done so I can think about other things, like actually having the baby / looking after her, etc. Will be such a relief not to think about it any more!

There's always the looking at the face option.

In case it matters to you, I suspect Kate may become very popular this year

paulapantsdown · 23/02/2011 08:43

Kate is going to be common as muck soon! Go with Martha I say. Good Luck for next week.

freyamalaya · 23/02/2011 08:45

Martha Kate Smile

pencilpotmonitor · 23/02/2011 08:46

Martha is one of my most favourite names ever!

clarkland · 23/02/2011 08:48

I love Martha... Just stunning Martha Kate sounds great. Good luck

smother · 23/02/2011 08:51

Another vote for Martha - think it has a little bit more to it as a name if you know what I mean.

But Kate is also lovely so you can't go wrong! I'd be tempted to put the full name Katherine on the birth certificate if you do go for Kate to leave more options for her for the future.

Good luck with the birth! And come back and let us know what you call her!

specialsmasher · 23/02/2011 09:00

Thanks all - I will come back & report choice!

I was thinking about the royal wedding thing - there aren't loads of women aged around 30 called Diana though, are there? Not such an easy name to use though, I guess. Takes some pulling off!

I have a Martha Kate Smile so obviously think both lovely. Maybe just see how you feel when she is born? One of the names may just seem more 'her' than the other...

HettyAmaretti · 23/02/2011 09:03

Kate.

Can't see it taking off in a big way because of teh royal wedding. Is too far removed from the cutesy and a-sounding ending that are popular ATM.

mrswoodentop · 23/02/2011 09:05

I like Kate ,apart from the recent popularity,I think it will always be popular and classic, actually against all my better jusf=gement I like Martha-Kate

plonkerr · 23/02/2011 09:05

I much prefer Kate.

Mummyrev · 23/02/2011 09:13

Another vote for Martha here.

CharlieBoo · 23/02/2011 09:16

Oh Martha by a long way...I love it.

Sinkingfeeling · 23/02/2011 09:19

I have a Martha, so I'd vote for Martha. :) Would you name your baby Kate or Katherine/Catherine on the birth certificate?

growing3rdbump · 23/02/2011 09:42

Special - My dad said the exact same thing (that there wasn't a sudden increase in Diana's) the other day when I mentioned to him it looks like Kate is getting popular due to royal wedding!

Apparently I was almost Martha, but was Katherine (Kate) instead!

specialsmasher · 23/02/2011 09:54

I think I'm going to relax about the whole thing - or try to. They're both good names, so what can go wrong! Confused

She'd be a Katherine, Sinking.

Your parents have good taste, growing!
