Both lovely but marginally prefer Kate. It has a special place in my heart though.

mathanxiety · 23/02/2011 17:02

Kate.

Martha reminds me of hens and I don't know why.

sahara13 · 23/02/2011 17:17

Im a Kate and its served me well!

KLou111 · 23/02/2011 18:39

Go with Katy, that's my name :) But I get called Kate a lot Angry not that I dislike it, it's just not my name lol!

KLou111 · 23/02/2011 18:39

If you call her Martha, just hope she doesn't marry a Fooker Grin

KLou111 · 23/02/2011 18:41

Teenybitsad · 23/02/2011 18:48

I like both but Matha pips it...also I suspect there will be a LOT of Kates this year after a certain young bride to be...

itsalarf · 23/02/2011 18:50

Not keen on Martha really. Also think it is a bit "of the moment". Kate is much more classic and suits all ages well.

specialsmasher · 23/02/2011 18:51

ooh - a late flurry of Kates!

Prefer Kate to Martha

fairimum · 23/02/2011 18:58

Martha Katherine!

ZZZenAgain · 23/02/2011 19:00

Prefer Katherine or Catherine to Kate too....

Both Kate and Martha are classic inoffensive names. You cannot go far wrong with either of them IMO

muminthemiddle · 24/02/2011 00:15

Prefer Kate.

Lonnie · 24/02/2011 01:04

sorry I dont like either I think both fairly plain and dull

Thanks for all input all, I spent all night thinking about it - in between going to the toilet every hour!

Martha is wonderful!

Kate is lovely too - but I like it as a nickname for one of the many longer versions. But not for Cathleen. PLEASE not for Cathleen.

agora1 · 24/02/2011 19:50

Kate, but only just, I like Martha too.

LouMacca · 24/02/2011 20:11

Both lovely names. Maybe when the baby arrives it will look more like one than the other? Good Luck x

Acanthus · 24/02/2011 20:14

Either, but full name Katharine or Catherine rather than Kate which isn't a proper name.

TallulahDoesTheHula · 24/02/2011 20:52

Martha!

stepawayfromthebiscuits · 24/02/2011 20:54

Martha! And agree that Martha Kate is lovely

ItsJustAName · 24/02/2011 21:35

Kate for me.

MissHavishamsDress · 24/02/2011 22:04

Definitely Martha, by a long shot. Just don't see the appeal of Kate (Katherine). I work as a teacher and at one point there were 4 Kate/ Katys working alongside me. All very lovely people, born in the 80s, but...

Martha is soft sounding yet strong.

Maud2011 · 24/02/2011 22:09

Martha or Katherine but not Kate (at least, not Kate on the birth certificate).
