Kate - hands down. I adore this name.

paulbrom · 23/02/2011 10:53

They're both v nice - I wanted Kate for DD but my OH didn't like it :(

I know two little Marthas, both very cute and I've never met a Kate I didn't like, but the youngest I know is 32!

Martha Kate is lovely and you could have Katherine Martha if you would like to use both but have Kate as the first name.

I don't think Kate is going to be THAT much more popular due to la Middleton, there aren't millions of 30 year old Dianas and she was much more popular than KM. Though Kate is a nicer name than Diana, so who knows?

OliveMalay · 23/02/2011 10:55

Martha

flopsy1974 · 23/02/2011 11:51

I have a Martha so am naturally biased, but Kate is a lovley name too. Martha Kate sounds gorgeous.

growing3rdbump · 23/02/2011 12:38

Thanks Special. My sisters are Anna and Jenny - Think Kate and Anna goes well if that helps for the future...!!!

UrsulaBuffay · 23/02/2011 12:49

Both gorgeous. Use both!

HappyAsIAm · 23/02/2011 12:58

Martha! Definitely.

And if its a boy, you can always say "Mmmmm. Arthur"

ValiumSandwich · 23/02/2011 12:59

Martha. Much nicer. Plus there will be a spate of Kates now in royal wedding year.

loler · 23/02/2011 13:05

Martha - I'm very very sorry that due to (a now ex-cat) we didn't use it for DD.

Kate's lovely too

PorkChopSter · 23/02/2011 13:27

Both nice but Martha wins for me.

Ormirian · 23/02/2011 13:30

Both!

Martha Katherine. I am Kate so I like that one, but Martha is also lovely.

Sidge · 23/02/2011 13:34

Kate is lovely but I think will become quite popular now - maybe more than Diana ever did as it's more 'user friendly' and timeless.

I don't like Martha I'm afraid. And where I live she would be called Marfa!

zozzle · 23/02/2011 13:43

I prefer the Katharine spelling personally.

Blatherskite · 23/02/2011 14:06

Kate is going to be Princess Catherine after the wedding I think - much to my disgust as DD is Catherine and is only 14 months so could be in a class with 46 others Sad - so you should be safe with Kate.

Prefer it to Martha

justalittleblackraincloud · 23/02/2011 14:10

I vote Martha

happypotter · 23/02/2011 14:10

I absolutely love the name Martha. Martha Kate is a gorgeous name.

Guildenstern · 23/02/2011 14:11

I vote Kate.

specialsmasher · 23/02/2011 15:00

Kate. As this is more classic and timeless.

Martha has had a resurgence in past 5ish years so rather a 'now' name (yes yes i know it's biblicla but it totally dropped off the radar for 30/40years and then made a come back.

Also Martha is a 'fat' name.

thunderbird69 · 23/02/2011 15:12

I like both but prefer Martha - need to see how each of them sound with your surname too.

HettyAmaretti · 23/02/2011 16:52

yy Martha does seem to be becoming quite popular.

Katherine Martha (Kate)

specialsmasher · 23/02/2011 16:53

Grin Confused at 'fat name'!!!
