Does Jasmine Pearl scream air freshener to you?

Well, Pearl is definately on the shortlist for a middle name if we have a girl (in honour of my gran who's name is actually Margaret) and DP really likes Alexia or Alexa for a first name. I like these too, but also love the name Jasmine.

Trouble is I'm wondering if Jasmine Pearl sounds like something you spray round the house to cover the smell of the dog farting?

It wouldn't be double barrelled (Jasmine-Pearl) so wouldn't be a major issue in a few years, but do you think this name would remind people of Febreeze or similar? Confused

Either 'Jasmine Pearl, new from Glade', 'Jasmine Pearl, one of the new luxurious fragrances from Lenor' .... or 'Try the NEW Jasmine Pearl from Ann Summers' Wink

Sorry, love both names on their own, really! Grin

JackieNo · 17/02/2011 17:46

Sorry, I'm in the fabric conditioner camp.

moondog · 17/02/2011 17:47

Jasmine is chavtastic.
Pearl is MC which means it will soon be chavtastic.

BooyFuckingHoo · 17/02/2011 17:47

yep, fabric softener.

Trinaluce · 17/02/2011 17:49

Oh oh oh, actually... Jasmine Pearl, as advertised by 'Mother Nature': 'I think you should stop filming RIGHT NOW' Angry

WaddlingSheep · 17/02/2011 17:52

Jasmine is lovely but not with Pearl. It does sound a bit like an air freshener or fabric softener...sorry!

OliveMalay · 17/02/2011 17:52

Jasmine and Pearl are both lovely names. If you hadn't mentioned air freshener I wouldn't have thought of it.

ScramVonChubby · 17/02/2011 17:53

Yes, a little

But if you think that's a challenge you should try putting girl's names with my surname- Peach. thank goodness we had boys! I liked Summer, Amber, Rosie, Lilly, Willow, Saffron... if it's not an air freshner it's a paint colour Wink

Honestly though how many people know middle names anyway? Wedding and Baptism, otherwise irrelevant. Go for what you want.

MelinaM · 17/02/2011 17:55

I'm getting the fabric softener vibe too I'm afraid! Love the name Pearl thoughSmile x

SecretNutellaFix · 17/02/2011 17:57

or washing powder I'm afraid.

saffy85 · 17/02/2011 18:02

I thought so. Smile nevermindey. Think I will ask DP to consider Margaret as a middle name to go with Jasmine.

And moondog, if you think Jasmine is chavtastic bear in mind if it's a boy it's gonna be a Jayden Wink

Thanks though everyone. Like I said I had a hunch Jasmine Pearl sounded like it freshened something.

Its posh tea!
Jasmine Pearl

cakeywakey · 17/02/2011 18:09

Nah, not air freshner, more like a tampon. Sorry OP!

Avantia · 17/02/2011 18:14

B & Q own brand paint colour Grin

mrsgordonfreeman · 17/02/2011 18:16

I thought paint colour too.

EricNorthmansMistress · 17/02/2011 18:23

I know one (double barrelled) she never uses the Pearl.

saffy85 · 17/02/2011 18:23

Might suggest Jasmine Pearl as a name for my friend's baby when she has one- she is obsessed with tea! Grin

I can't imagine shoving something called Jasmine Pearl up my fanjo ever but having said that it only occured to me it sounds like an sir freshener or similar while having yet another middle of the night wee. All my best thoughts come about while I'm on the loo though Grin

BTW Scram I wish I could not care what people say either way but still annoyed at MIL 3 and a half years later for her comment on seeing DD's birth certificate "oh that means you can't change her name now, doesn't it? nevermind." Hmm and [grrrr!] My dad and his brothers will definately take the piss if the baby shares it's name it all of the above!

Air fresheners sprung to mind when I first heard Simon le Bon's daughters names.

ScramVonChubby · 17/02/2011 20:53

DS2 has a name that the family laughed at and he ahs grown into it, loves it and nobody cares any more. He has a middle name he could use as well but has chosen not to.

His name is Stirling, first thing dad said was 'Girling?' but he then forgot; ds2 has 3 brothers as well and they never batted an eyelid but I guess it varies.

KristinaM · 17/02/2011 20:58

No I'm sorry, you can't use both these names for the same DD. I don't think Jasmine is chavvy, I know two jasmines who are both chinese and not cavytastic at all

KristinaM · 17/02/2011 21:04

Intact, why don't you call her margaret Jasmine and use Maggie as a nickname. Very cool and defo due for a revival.

domesticslattern · 17/02/2011 21:06

Yes, fabric conditioner, sorry.

Mind you, I knew a kid called Summer Breeze once. That's a Lenor flavour isn't it? Poor sod. Hippy parents.

LucretiaInShadows · 17/02/2011 22:34

Both names are beautiful, but together, I'm thinking fabric conditioner too. Sorry.

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 18/02/2011 14:25

I thought more Fabric Conditioner, too.

What about Jessamine instead of Jasmine? Same meaning, but perhaps a little more unusual?
