My cousin linked me to this, and I immediately thought of the MN Babynames forum!

Here ya go.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 06/01/2011 20:55

Superb!

Hassled · 06/01/2011 20:57

I'm very very cross. There's nothing wrong with Caughtneigh. My DD is a Caughtneigh, I'll have you know. How dare they mock?

scouserabroad · 06/01/2011 20:58

Caughtneigh Grin

LittleYellowTeapot · 06/01/2011 21:27

Fantastic!

Xal (pronounced Crystal)? Hmm

Love Hurtle Grin

Galena · 06/01/2011 21:28

Grin Wish I could take some credit for it.

Thank GOD DD's name isn't on there ..... well it is, but with stupid spelling

Beasknees · 06/01/2011 21:31

Beeanchor is my fave

ShowOfHands · 06/01/2011 21:32

DD's name is on there. She has a normal name.

Some of the other names on there are just ordinary names too. Maybe from other cultures but not worthy of mocking.

Galena · 06/01/2011 21:42

Yeah, there are some normal names, but I chose to ignore those over the ridiculous ones.

muminthecity · 06/01/2011 21:44

Shadeaux is genius, I wonder if it's too late to change my DD's name? (She's only 5)

Grin
5inthebed · 06/01/2011 21:48

I knew I should have called DS2 Dan-Yel

ValiumTinselton · 06/01/2011 23:16

Kuda force (quite funny. sense of humour).

Were Australian children really given these names? or are people just saying 'wouldn't it be funny to be called Boodickah. and so on.

bellabelly · 06/01/2011 23:21

Banjo Rocket is fab.

ValiumTinselton · 06/01/2011 23:22

I like Elodie, Mirabel and Rafaelle from that list. I can't work out what's bad about Abbey tbh! Abbey is a normal enough spelling.

Also Stealth Wolf. What's wrong with STealth Wolf?

McGinger · 06/01/2011 23:27

My wee girl is called Nyah.

It's on the list.

I love her name.

So "ner"!

Loving Maffew and Antwonet.

ShowOfHands · 07/01/2011 09:53

It is funny. And some of them did make me chuckle. But it did hurt to see dd's name on there. Thankfully though, there are several on there that are just normal names, hundreds of years old, yes maybe from a different culture but not worthy of being lumped in with Antwonet.

Mathilda
Mirabel
Orianna
Jorja
Abbey
Asiah
Jotham
Peyton
Tallulah

I know or have known people with the above names which are all listed on that site. All fine. Not bogan at all. Jotham for example is biblical, Abbey and Mathilda are older and alternative spellings of common names, Asiah is Turkish etc etc.

Dimple and Awesome sound like brilliant names for twins though.

ShowOfHands · 07/01/2011 09:56

I've never heard of 'Nyah' before. Is it a variation of Nia? Nyah is Japanese for meow iirc (dh likes Japanese anime). Smile

bullet234 · 07/01/2011 09:57

Little Yellow Teapot: Think of it as Cross-tal.

Eglu · 07/01/2011 10:01

Antwonet - hilarious, ditto - Berlinder
Koopa Grin

I do agree that there are some perfectly normal names on there.

Consuela39 · 07/01/2011 10:09

There are some lovely names on it too.

But preserve us from some of them. Do you think the kids would change their names once they realise?

Deciduousblonde · 07/01/2011 10:18

Some hysterical ones on there, but as has been said, some perfectly nice ones too!

I know one Nyah, I wouldn't have thought it strange or funny. Is Bogan like our Chav or Redneck? just a little guess Wink

ShowOfHands · 07/01/2011 10:22

Yes the chav equivalent. BIL is getting married to an Australian in May and they explained bogan to me the other day.
