Why is it everywhere I go, someone is shouting one of these names at their child?

KenDoddsDadsDog · 02/12/2010 07:27

It seems to be Jackson/Madison/Harrison/Leighton here...

YuleBeLucky · 02/12/2010 08:56

I only know one Jadon (spelt that way, which is actually a biblical name - the man who helped to re-build the walls of Jerusalem).

It isn't as common as is made out - in London, anyway.

Don't know any Kaydens, although know two Kaylans.

QueenOfFlamingEverything · 02/12/2010 09:00

its the names-that-sound-like-surnames trend

have seen/heard all the above lately

plus others including hudson, theakston, caelan, layton et al.

WestYorkshirePudding · 02/12/2010 09:06

I know one Jayden and one Caden - think they're both a bit Confused

EauRouge · 02/12/2010 09:47

None here but quite a few Harrisons. I used to get those baby name suggestion emails when I was expecting DD and one week the suggestions were Jayden, Kayden and Brayden.

tammy234 · 02/12/2010 09:56

I don't know any Jaydens or Kaydens here in Surrey actually.. I don't really like either name to be honest.

I keep asking myself the same question. I hear it SO often it is almost like a cliche.

BangingNoise · 02/12/2010 11:34

Lots up here near Leeds. Awful.

GetOrfMoiLand · 02/12/2010 11:34

What kind of moron would call ther child Theakston fgs?

Danthe4th · 02/12/2010 11:35

I know 1 who is age 3 with peirced ears and shaved head!! sweet boy though.

BangingNoise · 02/12/2010 11:36

That says it all, Danthe4th.

TigerFeet · 02/12/2010 11:40

I have a friend with a Kayden. She chose it because she likes unusual names. Didn't have they heart to tell her how common (in more than once sense of the word) I think it is.

She is from a posh family, well educated etc etc, I was really surprised when I heard her choice

Blimey, this post makes me out to be a proper bitch doesn't it Confused

I love my friend but am not keen on her choice of name. She thinks my children have boring unimaginitive names. Takes all sorts I suppose.

Edmundo · 02/12/2010 11:44

I have only met one Jayden. Don't like the name but loved the boy. Never met a Kayden before.

BangingNoise · 02/12/2010 12:25

I have a friend who called her son Oscar because she said it was unusual. I know 4 under the age of 3! I didn't tell her that.

DELHI · 02/12/2010 17:59

Don't like either - sound like silly, made-up-type names. To me, there's a difference between an unusual name that is actually a real name, and a made-up word that sounds a bit like a name but isnt IYSWIM

ThatllDoPig · 02/12/2010 19:01

I think they are American names.
Isn't one of them the name of one of Britney's kids? and definately one of Will Smiths.

HelenRosie · 02/12/2010 19:04

I met a Swayze the other day.

muminthemiddle · 02/12/2010 20:20

Lots round here too, along with Hayden and Braydon

FranSanDisco · 02/12/2010 20:24

Bet you don#t have a Mason, Lawson, Carter, Riley or Mackenzie. You have to have them all and raise me another to win Wink.

usualsuspect · 02/12/2010 20:27

Lots round here ..its just a trend ..much like the Arthurs,Wilfreds and Ethels etc that seem much loved on MN

KenDoddsDadsDog · 02/12/2010 22:01

Swayze! Xmas Grin
There was an Ozzy in the paper the other day. And several Beaus too.

UnquietDad · 02/12/2010 22:06

'What kind of moron would call ther child Theakston fgs?'

A very peculier one (sic) :)

readywithwellies · 02/12/2010 23:31

Fran - I know a Lawson, Riley and a Mackenzie but not a Mason or a Carter. So you win Wink

The biggest thing is it seems to be the only names I hear a parent SHOUTING. So, are all shouty parents calling their dcs Kayden/Jayden or is it that dcs called Jayden/Kayden are just naughty?
