Does no-one out there like Beauden or Arizona?

Hi there,

Well, our little one is due anytime now and we have got nowhere with sorting out names yet, despite everyone on mumsnet being great.

We have decided to probably stick with Beauden, which everyone slated us for before. I know about the Boden association but there are other baby threads which really like the name. Does anyone like Beauden or am I completely mad?

The other names we have talked about are:

Arizona
Sterling
Ronan
Winter (couldn't have this for a first name).

Really like Arizona as it is a special place to us (we live in UK).

Just needing some help - I did listen to everyone and told myself we couldn't use the name Beauden but me and dh still keep coming back to it. Please help...

Not Beauden.

Ronan is nice.

Arizona is hippy-ish but pretty. But for some reason I think of it as a summery name.

I know a girl called Winter, her mum calls her Winnie Smile.

frogs · 30/09/2010 22:58

Tell me you're joking.

Please?

Skyrg · 30/09/2010 22:59

I have never heard of Beauden and would assume it was made up if I heard it.
Arizona is much more recognisable but isn't it a girl's name...?

Quattrocento · 30/09/2010 23:00

I've only been to Arizona twice, but really did enjoy both visits. I have never been to Beauden. It sounds as though it's in Utah.

SoMuchToBits · 30/09/2010 23:01

I think I would prefer Indiana.

Actually I think Arizona is ok, but definitely not Beauden.

Skyrg · 30/09/2010 23:03

Ah, I notice you haven't specified baby gender, I assumed male since the other names are male.

Love the name Ronan.

But Boden Beauden? I pray it's a wind-up.

Quattrocento · 30/09/2010 23:05

I think you and your DH are beyond help, quite frankly. If you want to label your child as an academic underachiever and a serial disrupter of other children's education, then by all means go with those names

Tell me, what do you think of Charlotte?

llareggub · 30/09/2010 23:07

What Quattro said. Honestly, if there was ever a case for having a state issued list of approved names, this is it.

DirtyMartini · 30/09/2010 23:07

Arizona? Really?

Nah.

I actually quite like Winter.

seeker · 30/09/2010 23:08

How about Joules? Bateau? Or even Toast?

paisleyleaf · 30/09/2010 23:09

Again? This is a long pregnancy.
Do link to the threads that liked Boden/Beauden - they must be having you on
Really, you're probably better off not keep asking here, you're both so set on Beauden.

arizonagirl · 30/09/2010 23:10

Thanks for your help so quickly. No, it isn't a wind up Sad. I don't know if it's because everyone on mumsnet seem to be great fans of Boden. There are some other baby name forums where people have loved the name and haven't made the association with the clothes. I have to admit I don't know if I have been living on the moon but I have never even come across the shop, have no idea what they sell. But I totally appreciate your opinion - that's what I want.

Thanks for your other thoughts. Have to admit I do like Arizona too but not sure if it would be ok for a boy? Yes, I was talkinga about boys although we don't know yet what we are having Smile.

Thanks everyone. Even if I do suspect I have given some people a laugh for the evening Hmm

Pleeeeease do not use Beauden OR Arizona. Beauden for all the reasons already mentioned.

And Arizona because while it is a lovely state (yes, you got that right) it is also a brand of cheap in every way clothing stocked by JCPenney (boak) in the US.

Your child my well end up living in the US or even Canada; don't do this to someone you love.

Ronan, Stirling and even Winter would be really nice first names.

llareggub · 30/09/2010 23:11

Look, if you like it, use it.

Skyrg · 30/09/2010 23:12

Arizona is very much a girls name as far as I know, I wouldn't give it to a boy. Of the names you like, Ronan and Sterling are probably the best, although I personally don't like either.

Quattrocento · 30/09/2010 23:14

Bateau? Really? Seeker, are you as demented as the OP?

On what planet do you live? Where in the UK is it socially acceptable to call your child Boat?

You're joking, aren't you? You must be. I don't think it's fair to joke with an OP who is clearly either demented or educationally challenged.

Harry Zoner for a boy? - you could say 'arry.

I can understand that you might be stuck on Arizona, it is a great place and if it's special to you must be jumping out at you.
My DD was conceived in the Sahara, and we so nearly called her Sahara - I know, sounds a bit like Sarah with a hiccup in the middle. I'm glad we didn't.

Bateau as in Petit Bateau. Better tha Toast, I would have thought!

msyikes · 30/09/2010 23:19

Hilarious. You are joking about your little mini Beauden aren't you?

arizonagirl · 30/09/2010 23:26

Oh well, paisleyleaf - you are right, here I go again for another ear bashing. Guess I was a bit naive thinking there might be some new mums on here who actually like Beauden.

And I am sad to say I don't think I am mentally challenged (actually, that's quite funny as I submitted my Masters dissertation today - hence, some surfing on the net). But I take your point and let's face it, I have asked for your opinions.

Thanks for pointing out about the Arizona clothing label - guess it wouldn't be a good idea just in case ds decides to go to the States one day.

Starting to like Sterling again... and perhaps Ronan.

Keep going girls, you might succeed in putting me off at last. Or there again...

What about one of the other names beginning with Beau? Less controversial perhaps.
