bwahahahah @JulesJules.

Tomato is a lovely name

NomDePlume · 29/09/2010 16:24

awful.

Sounds made up.

snoozathon · 29/09/2010 16:24

I love this Grin

Please keep having more kids, and have a whole Scrabble game going on on your DH.

Ooh or or or

You could play the game where you have to get from one word to another by changing one letter at a time, so from Tayo to Taro to Tara to Cara Grin

gherkinwithapurplemerkin · 29/09/2010 16:25

Nom - it is made up.
To fit with her partner crossword tattoo.
Pfft.

NomDePlume · 29/09/2010 16:27

surely this is a made up thread though ? Name has to fit in with crossword tattoo ?

FerminaUrbinoDaza · 29/09/2010 16:38

When I saw the thread title I thought Tayo was a cack-handed attempt at a phonetic spelling of the continental pronunciation of Theo. Which would have been bad enough.

But, you're naming your child to fit a TATTOO Biscuit

stillbobbysgirl · 29/09/2010 16:40

Makes me want a packet of luverlly TAYTO! In Ireland, people who have a more 'working class' irish accent pronounce Tayto - Tayo.

FFS woman, get a grip. How will this kid feel when you tell him he got his stupid crisp like name coz it fitted on Dads tatoo! Confused

BooBooGlass · 29/09/2010 16:44

Baio?? Man , you'd have to be a realy big Happy Days fan. Even I don't love Chachi that much.

GladioliBuckets · 29/09/2010 16:45

What about Caeo? That's a real Welsh name (pronounced k-eye-o)

BalloonSlayer · 29/09/2010 16:49

I thought Taco

But seriously, OP, tell us how many letters it needs to be and what letters it has to have in it and we'll try and come up with something.

"5 Down. Boy's name. T something something something. Any ideas?"

stleger · 29/09/2010 16:59

I have some Tayto cheese and onion and salt and vinegars if anyone fancies a packet! I suppose Tayo runs the risk of Irish people thinking you can't spell, like Shaun and Neeve spellings?

Hullygully · 29/09/2010 17:02

Potato?

5DollarShake · 29/09/2010 17:05

Yes, I do think Baio would raise even more eyebrows than Tayo. Grin

Oh this thread has made my day!!

hifi · 29/09/2010 17:05

CHAVTASTIC,bloody horrible

InMyPrime · 29/09/2010 17:07

Crisps were also the first thing that came to mind when I heard the name.

When I heard your reason for choosing the name, the <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=www.bothteamsplayedhard.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/50-cent-tattoo.jpg&imgrefurl=www.bothteamsplayedhard.net/2009/08/22/supercool-beas-and-back-tats/&usg=__H838WpD7NCtRjG7qc4d-pYf3S1w=&h=369&w=468&sz=167&hl=en&start=0&sig2=wmE20ZUIH4RaUNOU21pOdA&zoom=1&tbnid=GEhPyycloDzRmM:&tbnh=151&tbnw=177&ei=Y2OjTNTxJdDFswbT9M2KBQ&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dfiddy%2Bcent%2Btattoo%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dsafari%26sa%3DX%26rls%3Den%26biw%3D1265%26bih%3D611%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=869&vpy=254&dur=437&hovh=199&hovw=253&tx=145&ty=137&oei=Y2OjTNTxJdDFswbT9M2KBQ&esq=1&page=1&ndsp=20&ved=1t:429,r:12,s:0" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">image of 50 Cent came to mind.

I don't suppose your DP really is a gangsta rapper, by any chance? If so, the name certainly would be fitting for when your DC is hanging out with all the other gangsta kids... Hmm

AbsofCroissant · 29/09/2010 17:12

Out of interest - is this how the other DCs were named? Or did this just come about for the newest one?

I know - shouldn't judge etc. etc. but FGS's woman - you're naming a child. This is going to be their identifier for life and you're choosing it on the basis that it works well in tattoo scrabble, not because it suits the child, is a good name, has special meaning to you, the name has a wonderful meaning

YunoYurbubson · 29/09/2010 18:01

"Why are all my brothers and sisters in daddy's special tattoo, but I'm not Mummy?"

"Because Mumsnet said it was naff, darling, so we decided to break the tradition. It's not because daddy doesn't love you as much, or that you're not special enough to be in the special family tattoo, really it isn't."

5DollarShake · 29/09/2010 18:23

So, in summary - damned if you do; damned if you don't. Confused

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 29/09/2010 22:38

But the new baby could have his/her own special tattoo - perhaps in the form of a Polygon word puzzle. Then people would have all the challenge and fun of seeing what other words they could make from the name, and using the centre letter.

ShirleyKnot · 29/09/2010 22:45

Yuno

"Why are all my brothers and sisters in daddy's tattoo, but I'm not mummy?"

"Because we wanted to give you a name which was important to us and not part of a cryptic clue...

Daddy has your name tattooed on his back/neck/forearm...LOOK!"

Do me a favour.

salvadory · 29/09/2010 23:01

I know a Tayo pronounced tie-o, he's Nigerian and it's a shortened version of temitayo. I like the name and the pronounciation, not keen on the tay-o pronounciation or the link with taio cruz or the tattoo crossword inspiration but I don't see it and think Mayo or tayto and don't think many others will unless you happen to be in Eire.

MuffinMouse · 29/09/2010 23:10

Actually I really like Tayo when spelled Teo. Sorry to go against the tide here. I can't visualise the tatoo dynamic. Would Matteo or Teodore fit??? Teo for short. It's still pronounced Tay - o. Spanish for God, I think. I heard it a few years ago, the son of two doctors, who weren't at all chav. Well, that's my pennyworth anyhow. Smile

bellabelly · 29/09/2010 23:17

I used to teach a lovely boy called Tayo (pronounced Tie-oh) - he was a lovely boy so I'm probably biased but I like the name. Would be an unusual choice for a white British kid.

Fimbo · 29/09/2010 23:26

I am in fits at this thread. So sorry OP but you should have kept the tat bit to yourself. It was going ok up until that point.

RiverOfSleep · 29/09/2010 23:42

I love this thread!

I thought:

  1. Daylight come and me wan go ho ome
  2. Crisps (not Irish but I do like Roddy Doyle, is that why I know them?)
  3. Simon Mayo

rofl at calling baby Tattoo. Especially if you're
from Edinburgh, please say you are?
