Erin Patterson - We the members of the MN jury find the defendant Guilty or Not Guilty?

Well here we are, after 2 years of head-scratching speculation and many weeks of trial detail-thrashing. It looks like the Judge will give his directions to the jury on Tuesday, after which they'll be sequestered in a local motel (I do not envy them this) to reach a verdict.

Clearly we're not privy to every last piece of evidence shown at the trial, but those of us who've been following closely will surely have formed an opinion one war or the other.

So, I ask you- if you were on the jury- what would your verdict be?

You’d hope that she wasn’t given the injections to administer herself but you never know.

The needles for an Ozempic pen are barely sharps. They’re only 6mm long and super fine. Ozempic needs to be refrigerated so I assume she’d be given the pen and needle, inject herself, and then have to hand back the pen and used needle, or be observed disposing of it into a sharps container.

It seems odd, as everything you read has prisoners complaining bitterly about the food which seems at odds with prisoners gorging on it.
ETA - if anything you would think they would lose weight pretty quickly after entering prison and having that food.

Well, I have never seen one in the wild. But the fact it needs to be disposed of in a sharps container says something. In the US, if you go to the ladies in a mall, the sharps bins are overflowing with them, I heard a gastroenterologist say on a thing I listened to a few months back. I thought there were multi-doses in one pen, so why would she use it once and hand it back to be put in the sharps bin?

Multi dose pen but you attach a fresh needle for every dose.

A used needle would definitely be a biohazard, hence the need to be disposed of safely, but not something you could use to e.g. cut or stab someone. It's a tiny little wire the width of a hair.

Given she managed to turn a Beef Wellington into a murder weapon, I would not want to take my chances.

@velvetandsatin Yes like @Sugarnspicenallthingsnaice explained it’s a multi dose multi use pen with a fresh needle tip each time. It screws onto the end of the pen, and you unscrew it and throw it away once you’ve done the injection. You could injure an eye with it but I doubt it would do much damage to the rest of the body.

Pretty sure the pen itself is glass. If you were so inclined, you could break in half and stab it in a guards neck (or their own). I’d not be letting a prisoner have hold of one, would think it safest if it was administered by someone in the prison infirmary so the prisoner never got hold of the pen.

ETA - although, thinking about it, they seem fine letting her have knitting needles and crochet hooks, which I do find odd in a prison but anyhoo. So, if she had these then I don’t see what issue a small, fine needle, or indeed broken glass pen will pose that a knitting needle would not.

Prison staff are attacked all the time. She's an unreasonable woman, prone to building extreme enough resentments over piddling things that she plans mass murder of elderly relatives.

It's only speculation they might be worried about EP being involved with sharps - a common weapon for tiny skinny weak junkies, after all - and in fact they may just be commenting on their underpay and lack of support for guards.

Please if it's for diabetes there's insulin you know the stuff most people take for it? She's in jail chuck the fatso on a treadmill and she can run for her mushroom soup dinner and lose weight that way! Is she worried none of the girls in prison will find her sexy! 😂😂😂

You can exercise in a small space. She's got stuff-all else to do. Jumping jacks, star jumps, push ups, run on the spot. I do that in front of the tv at night sometimes.

Don't get me wrong- diabetes is a terrible disease. But she doesn't have it.

This reminds me of Alicia Schiller. This case was very different, nowhere near as much publicity but she's still a murderer. Erin has history to draw on.

Mind you, Alicia Schiller also tried to have IVF in prison, at least that was shot down in flames!

My comment was about everyone saying EP should be spending her days exercising and not being lazy. Not about her turning her body into a weapon.

As PPs already commented 1. Medical staff will keep and administer medication, so she won’t have ‘access to sharps’ and 2. Even if she did get access to it, the needles on those things wouldn’t scrape dirt from under your fingernails, let along be used to harm anyone.

Anyway, I think I will bow out of this thread. The turn it’s taken since the Ozempic article was posted is pretty awful.

Oh, I see. Sorry, I misunderstood your point. Still not sure I get it. But it was in the middle of people claiming sharps are a non-event, which you also say here.
