The mushroom poisoning in Vic.... I am gripped - Part 2

ImustLearn2Cook · 20/08/2023 00:38

Hi everyone, Aussie Mumsnetter here. As some have requested a new thread be started by an Aussie I decided to do it.

I am still gripped by this case and like many, I am awaiting updates of new information.

Will a matching donor for a liver for Ian be found soon? I hope he makes a full recovery.

Will he be able to shed new light on the lunch they all shared?

And of course is she guilty of deliberately poisoning them or was it an innocent mistake?

Just watched Last Stop Larrimah on Netflix. I hope the cops are better than the ones in this case.

Another crazy awful case.

"Police said the three other attempted murder charges related to separate incidents in Victoria between 2021 and 2022, where a 48-year-old Korumburra man became ill following other meals."

absolutely crazy! Is the husband 48?

alwaysonadiet1 · 02/11/2023 09:00

Crikey, they think she's done it before but the victims survived.

KenAdams · 02/11/2023 09:01

This is insane. Glad she's finally been charged.

Ah yes you're right. I think the attempted murders were the ex husband. He had suspected her of poisoning him.

LargeSquareRock · 02/11/2023 09:10

The Daily Mail (I know) says the three attempted murder charges separate to the lunch three months ago relate to allegedly 3 separate attempts on ex-husband’s life in 2021 and 2022.

Cosywintertime · 02/11/2023 09:11

Good lord, they think she tried to kill her ex husband 3 times.

velvetandsatin · 02/11/2023 09:15

Three charges of murder and five of attempted murder... The investigators have really been dotting their I's and crossing their T's these last several months.

They interviewed her for over five hours before the murder charges were announced.

Fourecks · 02/11/2023 09:17

I don't think too many people will be surprised by the murder charges but I wasn't expecting the attempted murder charges relating to her ex-husband.

What's the mood in the area @Dustyblue?

COPPER3 · 02/11/2023 09:18

Her guilt was transparent, it was only a matter of time. I am glad there is justice at last.

Dustyblue · 02/11/2023 09:19

Sorry for copy-posts.

I live nearby and today was a shit show of trying to walk past or park near the police station. Media everywhere.

Would've thought she'd be taken straight to St Kilda Rd.

Cosywintertime · 02/11/2023 09:27

I’m not surprised she was charged with trying to kill her husband, I’m surprised she’s tried it 3 times,,

BringMeTea · 02/11/2023 09:32

If you want your husband dead but then he cries off your latest attempt, why the hell are you killing the other people? Didn't want to waste the beef wellington? Have to assume she'd decided to take them all out for supporting him. Madness.

ladeluge · 02/11/2023 09:38

Insanity plea incoming?

Yes exactly. The police have charged her with trying to kill them all, deliberately and succeeding with 3 of them.

IveHadItUpToHere · 02/11/2023 10:00

Perhaps that explains the renewed search of the house. They did search it earlier but that was in relation to the beef wellington deaths. Maybe the new search is also concerning the ex because iirc experts said his symptoms weren't similar to death cap poisoning so may have been something else eg nightshades.

I can't work out the numbers. If 2 of the attempts were related to the lunch - and we know Ian survived the lunch so he must be one of those attempts - who was the other one? Surely they can't charge her with attempting to kill her ex because he was invited even though he didn't attend?

The 'talk' from the start was "she must've done it".

So, comments like "Don't eat the mushrooms in Leongatha" 😉and "Don't eat at Baptist Dinners". 🤔

Attempted murder against her Ex-Husband was a surprise.

Mood is pretty much "Jeez, the cops have played the long game and done it well, for once".

This is no small thing in these parts. People don't necessarily like the local police, but nobody's arguing with the job they've done in collaboration with the homicide squad.

Choux · 02/11/2023 10:33

I think you can. If she says she prepped the dish at 9am ready for a 1pm lunch and he didn't pull out till noon then she prepped deadly food for him and intended he would eat it alongside his relatives.

That means three previous attempts on her ex's life. She's crazy to think she could just keep trying and no one would think it wasn't suspicious. It could be the police already had suspicions she was deliberately doing this before this lunch and he pulled out as he was too scared to come and eat her food.

Cosywintertime · 02/11/2023 11:23

No the three attempts on his life were separate to this lunch where she attempted to kill his family and sadly succeeded in 3 people who tragically died.

she has been charged with 3 counts of murder. And 5 of attempted murder. 3 of which were on her husband at previous times.

as such, she has been charged with murder of 3 people who died. Attempted murder of the gent who survived and attempted murder of one other person. Was it her husband or was there one other person she actually fed that meal to?

3luckystars · 02/11/2023 11:27

Shocking !!!!!

Well thank goodness for that!
How many of us on here thought she was likely guilty , as her stories were so utterly implausible.
How does an ''Asian shopkeeper'' sell deadly mushrooms in error as Erin alleged- and yet no other customers fell ill?

Banged to rights.

That's interesting. Yy I suppose it's like if someone throws a weapon at you or shoots at you but you dodge it. Their intent was to attempt to kill you regardless of whether you managed to avoid it or not.

Well done to the Cops.
I'm not Australian {Live in UK} but interest regarding this case was high here, too.
I'm really glad the Cops caught her.
They definitely were thorough.

The crazy writings on the wall that a Tradie took pictures of were bizarre, too.
The crocodile tears then aggression were ''off'' too.

She was crying for herself, most likely.

Yes, I too think she will plead 'insanity'.
