Aussie and NZ Mumsnetters

Welcome to Aussie & NZ Mumsnetters - discuss all aspects of parenting life in Australia and New Zealand, including relocating, schools and local areas.

Brilliant that you have your own board! I love Australia and have family there - would love to be going there again, but no trips planned soon :(

@CheckingOutandIn I'm not really quite sure why you keep insisting this is a UK board. MNHQ might be based in the UK, but there are members here from all over the world. And why shouldn't they have their own board if it's important to them? What damage or harm does it do to you?

Thepossibility · 26/04/2023 21:40

@CheckingOutandIn I'm on Mumsnet because I am a Mum on the Net.
And because I click with the humour of some of the people here.
Obviously not you, mate.

Waves from Melbourne.

....I mean, on the upside, CheckingOutandIn is contributing to the success of this board by ensuring that Kiwis and Aussies are united rather than engaging in any rivalry 😂

Catsmere · 27/04/2023 02:36

And helped boost it into “trending” 😄

Yes for someone who appears to dislike australians that poster sure seems invested in reading and participating on the thread. Ignore, don't give them the attention that they somehow desperately crave.

Anyway, hello, I am originally from NSW but am living overseas now.

MonaChopsis · 30/04/2023 05:40

Another Kiwi living in Wales checking in! @dragonbreaths where are you based? I'm in southern Snowdonia.

Literally just back from my first trip home in 6 years, missing family and feijoas already!

Jenny70 · 30/04/2023 05:44

Lovely, I'm a Perth MNetter, enjoying a lovely sunny day today 😎

Dustyblue · 30/04/2023 06:23

Hi from the south-east coast of Vic! I'm ex-Melb, moved down here 7 years ago.

I was on old EB & MN at the same time, the contrast between the sites was always interesting.

Looking forward to some good local chat. NOT that people from other countries shouldn't join in, UK board or not. MN seems pretty international these days, far more so than EB ever was.

tiddlyipom · 01/05/2023 07:58

Thanks Mumsnet!
It's great to,have an Aussie/NZ specific board!

Bankholidayboredom23 · 01/05/2023 08:09

Adelaide born London dweller here. Now had half my life in each country. Recently returned from annual trip to Aus, had a daydream for a couple of days about moving back but reality set in and it's not right for us. Maybe in retirement, depends where the kids end up settling. Hello to all the Aussies and Kiwis, and the Brits/Europeans who have made it their home

FiveShelties · 01/05/2023 08:13

And thanks from me too.

Another poster from Hawke's Bay, although I am in UK at the moment as my Mum has fallen and has to move permanently to a Residential Care Home.

So sorry, @FiveShelties - I hope she’s recovering and you’ve found a good place for her. My mum broke her hip in respite care a year or so ago, mercifully it was a clean break.

FiveShelties · 01/05/2023 13:33

Thank you @Catsmere it is a tough time but she has done so well to stay in her own home so long - she will be 93 next month.

The home she is in is temporary and I am looking for somewhere good for her, hopefully will find something suitable quickly.
