I do these on other sites I am on (babywearer, craftster) and they are always loads of fun.
If you don't know what I mean it works like this.
Group of us submit likes/dislikes/ kids ages etc
You each get a giftee chosen who you make a secret gift for, either for them, or the DC's or the home using whatever crafty skills you have.
Everyone recieves a anonymous hand crafted gift in the post and gets that warm fuzzy feeling.

If you like the idea then sign up here and I shall sort a yahoo group or something.

Oh, and don't worry if you are new to crafting, My first year I sent a crocheted hat to someone, it took me a couple of days even though it was dead easy, but she loved it, it's the thought, not the skill!

It's beautiful isn't it?

I love it!!

TwoIfByScream · 29/10/2009 21:03

Hey, wait a minute, I posted about an hour ago and it disappeared - huh? Oh well, Tibs and technology do not mix well! Damn, it was a long one as well.

AnywhatwasIonabout, postal strike didn't seem to be on here as I got my package today. Woohoo!

First up dts each got a package, wrapped in Hallowe'en fabric, spooky sweeties (now all gone and I didn't even get one!), fab vampire fangs (dts discussed how these are going to be a distinct advantage when apple dooking on Saturday) and fake blood which apparently is going to be used in copious amounts so it is going to be CSI; my house on Saturday night I think.

That is not all!

In a little homemade Hallowe'en bag were four homemade cards. I keep cards I like slotted into my bookshelves and this is most definitely where these are going.

Where do I put the photos, on profile or send them to you for the blog Jack?

Mystery swapper thank you very, very much May you have a spooky Saturday night!

TwoIfByScream · 29/10/2009 21:04

Phew, this time worked!

JackBauWooohooohoowaaer · 29/10/2009 21:36

Up to you, you can email them to me or stick them on here or both, whatever's easiest!

Now I think though if you could email me a pic or 2 as well as putting them on flickr or your profile I can add them all onto the blog so they are there as a permanent record of all your fabulousness I am midnful that the pics will vanish once we lose halloween names...

tattycoram · 29/10/2009 21:43

Oh my gawd! look at that quilt! it's fantabulous

charis · 30/10/2009 13:18

My swap arrived this morning. Thank you very talented mystery craftster

It was really exciting to open the package and I couldn't believe how many things there were inside. Dd loves the witch and ds is very impressed with his skull band. I will be using my knot bag for trick or treating tomorrow.

I hope my package gets through to its mumsnetter in time. Stupid postal strike grr.

JackBauWooohooohoowaaer · 30/10/2009 20:48

Pics, pics!
So glad some are getting through

lavenderkate · 31/10/2009 12:10

I got mine just now !!!!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT .
Whoever made this for me thank you its just the best thing ever.

I will try to post up some pics but in the meantime

My mystery giver sent me a skellington doll. its crocheted (i think) and my kids are absolutely loving it but they cant keep it as I am besotted too.

There's also a knitted skull wristband that doubles up as a dress for skelly or a funky hat (dd2s idea).

i was upstairs cramming for a biology assignment, swamped in papers when dd1 excitedly ran up with my MN parcel. Skellington is now sitting here with me on top of my books with a wry smile.

The kids say thank you for the little packs of Halloween sweeties too. Ds 3yrs says you are his best friend as he happily munches his bat haribo. He thinks skelly is based on him as thats what he looked like last night at our Halloween party.

WE LOVE YOU! Thank you.

lavenderkate · 31/10/2009 12:21

And Jack?
Thanks for arranging this, the feel good factor is brilliant. You're a star.

i think we should have the pics altogether on your craftsite as a permanent record.

Geocentric · 31/10/2009 16:58

Oooh, we definitely need pics of skellington, he sounds great!!!!!

I'm loving all the reports as the swaps arrive!

CharCharGabor · 31/10/2009 17:31

Skellington does indeed sound fabbo, can't wait to see pics! Can't wait for my swap to come!

TwoIfByScream · 31/10/2009 21:58

I've put one pic on my profile but I'll send a couple more to Jack for the blog.

JackBauWooohooohoowaaer · 31/10/2009 22:47

Oh those cards are brilliant! Nice job mystery MNer!
I have to admit that started it in a purely selfish way as I love the feel good factor and wanted more [greedy] so glad everyone else is enjoying it.
it's a hard choice between which is better TBH, receiving the mystery gifts or having people receive them!

KnottyLocks · 31/10/2009 23:28

Cooeee, Jack

Halloween nearly over, sign me up for Christmas. Missed all this fun as not long joined you mummas. Sewing foot at the ready...

Missy8c · 31/10/2009 23:57

Tif · 02/11/2009 11:46

tHELLISH · 02/11/2009 13:12

Received my gifts this morning - thank you SO much!
Photos up very soon - I received a beautiful scarf and essential oil candle-melt, wrapped in very funky skull wrapping paper, both completely fab!

phantom knitter - you needn't have worried about colours as I love stripes too (I'm wearing a grey and black stripy top and hat today!), but thank you so very much for choosing the wool specially x x x

tHELLISH · 02/11/2009 13:36

Photo up!

CharCharGabor · 02/11/2009 14:53

Yay, more things! That scarf is so lovely and the wrappin g paper is very funky.

I also mine this morning, a cute little pumpkin bag with some lovely homemade apple and dark sugar fudge, om nom nom It's absolutely delicious and dd and I are currently fighting over it. Thankyou mystery swapper!

dizzyday07 · 02/11/2009 16:10

I've been meaning to say that as well as the Blog, we set up a group on Flickr.

I seem to remember that it's set up so membership has to be approved (by me!) - but that was just to stop random joiners!!

You can get a Flickr account by just signing up and you can upload 200 photos for free. I've joined lots of groups on there and it's great for inspiration.

thell · 02/11/2009 20:49

Wow, got to start plotting for the Christmas swap.
Very exciting!

Part of me wishes all Christmas presents had to be made like this.

What an idyllic crafty world it might be!

JackBauerBlowsShitUp · 02/11/2009 21:20

Cool, shall transfer my pics onto flickr.
Please everyone else send me your pics as the gifts come in so we can all drool over see them and share the fun

I think once they have arrived safely I will start a christmas one early to get roudn postal strikes, so things will need to be sent by early/mid december.
Will start a new thread.

CharCharGabor · 03/11/2009 00:06

I'll email you some pics tomorrow, bad day today. Looking forward to the Christmas swap

JackBauerBlowsShitUp · 03/11/2009 09:18

Sorry to hear that Charchar, hope you're ok

Geocentric · 03/11/2009 09:56

Looking forward to seeing everyone's piccys, the swap gifts all sound great!!!! (and I'm very intrigued by eyeball juggling balls...)
