A finished item! Looking forward to a new project. Possibly a stash buster crochet basket

Oh that’s lovely @VittysCardigan !

sophs29 · 22/11/2022 22:29

@VittysCardigan I love that! Well done you! 👏🏼

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 22/11/2022 23:41

That's gorgeous, @VittysCardigan.

MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 23/11/2022 00:01

@VittysCardigan

That's huge! And stunning. 😍

How long did it take to make?

This is my fourth of this particular cardigan, made over the last month or so - two in red and two in cream for my granddaughters aged 2yrs and 6 years.

I'm looking for a bonnet pattern so I can use the same yarn - a bonnet with twisted ties and pom-poms.

Thanks everyone.
I made it to use up yarn I had left over from another blanket. It took approx 2 months to make.

WeCanLiveLikeJackAndSally · 23/11/2022 09:04

@QuantumWeatherButterfly I suppose it depends if you give c high o late oranges as gift or just eat them! My grandma would give everyone a chocolate orange each Christmas and when she died I picked it up but I got my mum to knit some covers because you can’t eat them until Christmas Day!

@VittysCardigan thats lovely.

Nice cardigans, the buttons are particularly cute @MyOtherCarIsAPorsche

sophs29 · 23/11/2022 10:08

@MyOtherCarIsAPorsche that is beautiful! Looks so soft and snuggly!

VittysCardigan · 23/11/2022 11:20

I am attempting this:
mypoppet.com.au/makes/crochet-basket-scrap-yarn-projects/
But no matter what i try it will not lay flat!
Does anyone have any advice please?

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 23/11/2022 13:45

@WeCanLiveLikeJackAndSally See, I cannot be trusted around a chocolate orange. If the box is opened, I will eat it, call of it, over or no cover, regardless of the date! Only the box still being sealed will prevent me devouring it😊

My mum always put one in our stockings until we left home. I have dropped some hints/outright told DH that he needs to step up, but he never does. He usually remembers just after we've opened our presents, and promises to remember the following year, but never does. I should probably LTB😂

@VittysCardigan Well that's gone straight onto my crochet pinterest board! Did you try a round without any increases?

sophs29 · 23/11/2022 14:09

My MIL went through a stage of buying a choc orange every time she visited (once a week) 😂 so we ended up with a collection, it didn't help that my DP said they'd changed the recipe and they didn't taste the same 🙄 I made a cheesecake with them a few weeks ago! It was delicious!

@VittysCardigan I'm pretty sure @Fairislefandango made that one so she might have some tips ☺️

VittysCardigan · 23/11/2022 14:24

@QuantumWeatherButterfly it's curling up within the first couple or rounds. I am using 2 strands of aran & 1 of super chunky (desperately trying to stash bust) i've tried several hook sizes but no luck Sad

VittysCardigan · 23/11/2022 22:38

I seem to have cracked it now, although my base is more if a hexagon than a circle. I added an extra dc between each increase on every row. Trial and error helped find the right hook size too. The pattern is a yarn eater so great for stash busting.

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 24/11/2022 09:01

That’s beautiful @MyOtherCarIsAPorsche!

Wow @VittysCardigan! Impressive! It looks really cosy Smile

@MerylSqueak flip, that is a toilet roll holder and glitter kind of budget Shock Did you decide what to make?

Has anyone been watching Ghosts season 4? Alison’s red jumper in episode 3 or 4 is driving me mad, I’m sure I’ve seen a very similar pattern on Ravelry. It’s has a Emily Greene or Brooklyn Tweed kind of vibe but it’s not either of those.

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 25/11/2022 09:42

Well, I've finished the pink square, number 3 of 4 for the cocoon cardigan, so it's decision time on whether I attempt all cream, or go stripy.

I'm visiting my parents this weekend, so going to get my mum's opinion before I commit.

Fairislefandango · 25/11/2022 18:43

Hey @VittysCardigan - I've made two of those stashbusting scrap baskets! I didn't have a problem with them laying flat though. I'd love to help, but I'm not sure what might be going wrong! I've got a feeling there was something in the instructions about skipping an increase round if it wasn't sitting right...

@Fairislefandango I managed to muddle through! Far from perfect but a finished object none the less Grin Excuse the terrible lighting.

Fairislefandango · 25/11/2022 19:00

Cool! It looks like you've used a similar colour scheme to my first one. Then I made my sister one in white, grey and scarlet. I quite fancy making some smaller ones too!

I will probably make some more. Someone suggested using red, green & white for baskets for poinsettias as Christmas gifts

StillNiceCardigan · 25/11/2022 19:24

Ooh I’ve made a stash basket it’s got all the stuff DD1 leaves behind every time she visits in it.

I like that! @StillNiceCardigan

WeCanLiveLikeJackAndSally · 25/11/2022 22:35

I’ve finished my bag for my MIL who is due a hip replacement. I’ve designed it and in quite pleased with it, even if I do say so myself. I’ve got a little pocket inside for her grabby tool and a little pocket for her iPad/kindle. It’s not perfect and there’s bits I’d tweak next time but time is more important than perfection for my MIL at the minute. Hopefully she can put this on the side of her good hip and carry everything with her. She has been forgetting her grabby tool so then she either needs to be in pain to walk back and grab it or be in pain to bend down and pick whatever up.

VittysCardigan · 25/11/2022 22:38

That looks great @WeCanLiveLikeJackAndSally I'm sure your MIL will find it really helpful

sophs29 · 26/11/2022 18:15

That's great @WeCanLiveLikeJackAndSally so handy! I love the colour way too!

I've finished my DS's jumper! It's a little bit stiff but I think it was just a cheap yarn from mums stash! I would upload a photo but I use mumsnet mainly from my phone and for some reason it starts at my oldest photos on my phone, would take me forever to scroll to the newest 😂😭
